There is a LOT of good info on here about dry firing (Do a search). It has helped me a bunch. Most everyone says yes, it's perfectly fine to dry-fire. Others feel more comfortable with snap caps. I shoot mine without them and it has helped my accuracy. Keep your ammo away when dry-firing and triple check before you pull the trigger!!!;)

Been dry-firing my G21 for ten years. (Not continuously, of course.) It still works whenever I load it with ammo.

Dry fire away! But like RaiderRodney said, double-triple-quadruple-check that your chamber's empty BEFORE you squeeze that trigger. You can never be too paranoid about that...

I normally use snap caps, but not always. Dry fire away.
If you do use snap caps, use store bought ones. I made my own dummy rounds. One day I accidently mixed in a round that had a light primer strike with my dummy rounds with the predictable results.
