View Full Version : Dawson Fiber Optic Adjustable Sights
I put a set of these sights on my Glock 34 which I use in Production class. The sights are great but I have run into a little problem. The front sight is too tall to clear my holster(Dillon belt slide) w/o snagging a little bit. I bought an Uncle Mikes kydex holster and it also does not have enough sight channel clearance. Anyone have any ideas for a holster that will have enough clearance w/o snagging the front sight and also be Production legal? Any help will be appreciated.
I have a galico kydex that works with the dawson sights. Not sure of the model, but it seems that most gun stores carry it.
Blade-tech dropped and offset will work.
Is the Blade-Tech legal for Production? I talked to the people at Ky-Tac today and am thinking about going with the "Sevignature" model of the Super Hooper. The guy said he could mold the holster w/ the extra needed clearance for the front sight.

I've got the Dawson front fiber and an Uncle Mike's Kydex and I don't have any problems. But then again, I seem to be the only person on the planet with this combo with no problems.

The Bladetech DOH is legal for Production. The Comp-tac Locking Paddle will also fit the .275 front and is IPDA and Production legal.
I have the Dawson sights on the G35 I use for Limited and L10. I use a CR Speed Holster which has a clearence cut in the muzzle cup for the front sight.
For Production I use a Safariland 007. Plenty of room for the high front blade.
Thanks for all the input. I went with the Ky-Tac Sooper Hooper II. It should arrive in about 2 weeks.

Ever been chalanged for use of the 007 in Production?
No, I've used a 007 for over a year now.

Reason I asked the 007 is not allowed in IDPA. Production doesn't allow any race holsters and the 007 looks racy.
Think it's as fast as Kydex?
I wear my 007 on the hip and have never been questioned about it - not even at State Level matches.
I used to use Uncle Mike's Kydex holsters - and actually believe they are "faster" - but they won't fit with the high fiber optic sights I now have on all my competition Glocks. I've spoken to them about it and they said they would "...mention it to their designers." Ho-hum...
BTW, as far as IDPA ("I Don't Participate Anymore") goes - it's become by far a more B.S. sport (and don't tell me it isn't a "sport") then IPSC ever was!

IDPA/USPSA are both games I play.
Here's what I did for sights on my G23:
Put on a plain black MMC rear and a Dawson Precision Fiber Optical front made for the Novak rear. The front sight is .160 high. I opened up the MMC rear a little with a file and Dremel.
Looks like a small combat rear sight and it's adjustable. The front sight is very low.
Might keep this combo in mind if the need arises.
