View Full Version : 2nd generation G31
i just got home from the gunshow, where i saw something that baffled me.
i saw 2 g31's with second generation frames. no finger grooves or rail. matching serial #'s and everything.
i thought the 357 glocks were introduced after the frame change.
am i incorrect? could these be refurbished or what?
Actually the .357 GLOCKs were introduced before the third generation frames, thus there are a few second generation framed .357s out there. In fact, one issue of the GLOCK Annual had the 2nd gen GLOCK .357 pictured on the cover, IIRC.

Yup. There were a small number of Glock 31 pistols with 2nd generation frames. I used to have one, until I sold it. ;1
They have CXX-XXX serial numbers.
thanks for the response, guys.
i pretty much figured that had to be the case. it didn't seem likely that they were refurbs, i just wasn't sure.
Someone posted a while back that Glock, Inc. made at least one production run (maybe two) of both the Glock 31 and 32 prior to the introduction of the newer, third generation frames in early 1998. If what I have read concerning how Glock produces a run of pistols, that would be around 800 to 1000 made per model. I've actually seen more second-generation Glock 32's over the past few years than the 2nd gen G31. Good luck.
