IDPA in Central CT

The International Defensive Pistol Association (www.idpa.com),
through its member clubs, sponsors matches that allow
shooters of all levels to use practical gear in "real world
scenarios." Shooters of all levels are welcome. Whether
you are a serious "martial artist" or a "gamesman," you can
find a home in IDPA. A group of enthusiastic IDPA shooters
and IPSC competitors would like to set up a first class
action shooting program in central Connecticut. We are all members of the
S&W IDPA league (www.downzero.com) and Connecticut residents.

We want to expand into this area both to
provide an additional place to shoot and to attract new
shooters who otherwise would have no local venue to hold
IDPA matches. Our plan is to eventually have a first class
IDPA and IPSC facility in central Connecticut.

We are seeking out potential competitors, supporters and organizers. We would

like to affiliate with an existing Connecticut gun club with
room for expansion. We would improve the club's facilities
at our own expense and build at least three action shooting
ranges. We would acquire the necessary target stands, steel
and supplies. We hope to conduct at least 12
matches per year and be able to attract at least 30 shooters
per match. After the first year, we should be able to "pay
our own way." In no way would we be a burden on our "host"
club. To the contrary, we would add value by giving club
members and guests the opportunity to participate in a new
shooting discipline. Optimally, by 2005, we would be able to
host a Connecticut State IDPA championship.

IDPA is an integral part of many successful clubs in other states. The
annual New England Regional Championship at the Pioneer
Sportsmen's Club in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, attracts 150
shooters and is a financial asset to the club. It's a great
time that all participants eagerly look forward to.

If you are interested in competing, helping to run a match or
assisting with developing the program, please send an e-mail
to idpa@downzero.com with your name,
town, telephone number, e-mail address and whether you can
compete, provide support or help in organizing. Also, please
let us know if you are interested in IDPA, IPSC or
both. Thanks for your interest.

Give them an e-mail if you can help out in any way. I've been to their matches in Mass at the S&W Academy and they run a really well organized event.

We can only hope partner. Mass's laws are a bit strict for me to feel comfortable even legally transporting to a competition. It would be nice to have IDPA here in Ct.
