Most of us have holsters we don't use. How about setting up a "Holster Library" to lend our unused holsters to our Glock Talk bretheren, who may be interested in a holster, but leery of plopping down the cash for yet another failed holster experiment?
I'd be willing to let a Glock Talk member borrow my Cen-dex Kydex IWB for a Glock 19, that sits collecting dust. I'd cut them a deal if they wanted to keep it too!
I vote that the borrower pay postage.

That is actually a pretty cool idea. I would be willing to loan some of my stuff out. Lord knows it does me know good where it currently is. ;f

got a couple of galcos that just collect dust for my 23 and a fobus owb would be willing to loan or if someone has one that I haven't tried and I have one they haven't tried who knows seems like we could end the shoebox of unused holsters with this idea. Lets concentrate on finding unused holsters a good home;w

Ill be the first to put out a request if anyone has one of those pesky SideArmor IWB's for a 23 I would be willing to take it off their hands or trade for it;) Im just looking to try other iwb

Two that I have to trade around are:

Galco Silhouette High Ride Holster Black(almost brand new) TRADED FOR ANOTHER GALCO

Galco Summer Comfort that I bought for the 27 but use for my 23 .Traded

I also have a leather 3 position holster (not sure of manuf. will look tonight) That I would be willing to trade for almost anything prob. didn't cost alot of dollars new got it in a trade thought someone who might not want to spend $big dollars could get it from me it has a thumb snap. its a good holster I just don't have any need for it.Traded

Sounds like a good idea, espec. for us lefties.

I've got a Don Hume JIT Slide LH for a Sig 239, along with an accompanying single-stack two-mag snap-on pouch. Both are in Saddle Brown, though the slide is basketweave and the pouch is plain. They're not old, but they do look somewhat used, because they are. :)

Also have a Don Hume LH IWB clip-on for the 239 in Saddle Brown that's in great shape.

Would gladly trade them for LH midsize (19, 23, 32) stuff.

This is an outstanding idea and one that I would sure want to use upon the purchase of new handguns. I would suggested that it be better posted in the holster want ads section of this forum. It may even be deserving of its own section. The "Holster Library" is a great title for the new section of the forum.

Sorry RAH
I just checked the safe, I gave the Bladetech for the G-17 away. I do have the ones for the G-19 and the G-26.

I haven't used them in so long I forgot that I gave it away to someone I can't remember, probably SoDFWJason.

The one for the 19 is ready if you want it.

Great idea!!

It's certainly beats the hassle of me selling them for $0.99 on eBay.

I would like to see a good righthanded shoulder holster for a Glock 23.

I am not sure if I would like this method of carry. It seems that a good shoulder holster can cost some serious jack as well.

07-27-2003, 11:21
Excellent idea.:) Unfortunately I usually toss in a holster when I trade/sell a pistol, no point in keeping leather for steel I no longer have. On the other hand, let me go see what I have...

OK guys after reading this I'm not quite sure what we have here?????
Is it a library where we can borrow stuff and try it out?
Is it a marketplace to do trades?
All of the above? More than the above?

Who pays for shipping and who knows where the stuff is at?
How long does it go out for?

Any clarity out there?

bill clancy
07-29-2003, 15:50
Still foggy...trying to give it some form. I'd like it to be a lend unwanted holster place. I'm sure deals will be made from there. Try before you buy kind of place. Borrower one pays postage. All people act with honor.

40 glock
07-29-2003, 16:03
Bill I agree with you 100% I don't know if it should be a wish list for people who have nothing to trade tho. I would think length of trade would have to be worked out by the individuals involved. Everyone acting with honor would have to be a must or it wont work. I really think this is a neat idea as Im sure Im not the only one with unused or rarely used holsters that could be better off elsewhere.

tac17
07-29-2003, 16:33
Could do the loans on a two week system like the local library. It might be simpler to keep it for people to try out something and then let them work out details on a trade on their own. If you involve trading to much in it trading could overshadow the test drive portion of the show.

Wow, what a fantastic idea!!! I have hit gun store after gun store to try before buy, but just can't find what I am looking for. Most shops only sell the common cheappies and the grab boxes usually contain western rigs. I have a Fobus adjustable paddle for a G17 for trade.

I've also got a LH Galco DEA paddle holster for a Glock 17/22/31 (but it also fits the 19, 23, and 32) - pretty nice, actually, with "wings" to protect the slide and two retention screws.

4.) Sidearmor IWB for Glock 29/30, 15 degree, 1-1/4" j-hook, with sweat guard, black, LH.

5 degree, 1-1/2" belt loop - LH
15 degree, 1-1/2" belt loop - LH
20 degree, 1-1/2" belt loop - LH
15 degree, 1-1/2" belt loop - RH

6.) Wilderness Belt, 34", 1-1/2" wide, 5 stitch, khaki.

Cool idea!

I'd love to try out some IWBs for my G20.

Do they make crossdraw IWB? I was thinking of a right-handed crossdraw, so the holster would be on my left side. Do they exist?

If you think about a cross draw IWB, how would you quickly obtain a full firing grip? The gun butt would inside your waistband if there was much cant unless it rode pretty high. Not my first choice.

Hey Guys,
A couple of week ago, I borrowed a holster from Soaringkestral that I had been thinking about buying. Thanks to her, I found that this particular holster does not fit me very well. Saved me a little money. This "holster library" idea is a good idea!

Thanks very much. I'll pass your kind words on to Tucker. He'll appreciate it I know. See, I've got him chained to his workbench almost 24/7 turning out holsters, etc.

We let him loose three or four times a day for essential breaks and bring him cheese and crackers and bottled water. One beer a day at sunset and a glass of O.J. and a cup of Java at sunrise. He is starting to smell kinda' gnarly, though. May have to improve his conditions.;) I know he'll appreciate your comments, though.

I would personally vouch for Dewayne if anyone else is thinking about loaning him anything. He was excellent to work with and kept me informed of how it was/wasn't working and when he was returning it.

Hi there, I just purchased a new G 23. I have been researching and pricing new holsters. I have held off though because alot of people have certain problems with one holster or another. Thats why I think this is such a great idea. I am on a tight budget (college student) and I would love to try a holster style/brand before I buy. Since I am new I only have one holster to offer for loan:

*Uncle Mike's Shoulder Nylon fits Ruger P-89 with extra mag pouch. This holster is a right hand-cross draw.
(Nothing wrong with my Ruger, but now that I got a G23, I'll never buy anything but glock in handguns)

After everyone stops booing me for the uncle mikes, I will continue..hehe

Anyhow, I am looking for ANY IWB holster for a G23. Please PM me if you have anything I might be able to use. (Preferably something I can buy off you if I like it)

Thanks guys..great idea here...DaveYGunn

I just bought my first Glock (a 26) and so don't yet have any Glock spares, but I do have a couple of shoulder holsters for S&W med frame wheelguns, a Hellweg paddle for a CZ-75 and probably others in the dark recesses of the closet.

I would like to try any concealment holsters for the 26 anyone might be willing to temporarily loan me? I will be happy to reciprocate with any I might buy only to find they don't work for me (or maybe even those that do - I'm a soft touch, but don't tell anyone). Right now all I have is my jacket pocket and an old IBM Hard Drive case (think of something that looks like a Palm Pilot case). I guess if anyone else is this hard up I'll loan either as you have need ;)

I also would appreciate any advice you folks might have on concealment holsters and accessories.

Thanks!

I would like to try out the following (and I'll buy them from you if they work, otherwise I'll return them in the same condition you sent them)...

1. Any tuckable holster that will work for a Para Ord Companion (1911 w/3.5" barrel).

2. Any tuckable for a G19.

3. Any tuckable for a Beretta Tomcat 3032.

Hi all,

I've got a question for everyone here on the holster library.

Let's say that you've loaned a holster to someone. You've both agreed on a two week loan period. You've now reached two weeks. You've contacted the borrower several times to see how he likes the holster, and see what his thoughts are but the borrower is ignoring you and not replying to either PM's or emails.

My question is what recourse does the loaner have against the borrower here on the forum?

Hey - reporting a success over here. Bought one, returned three.

I'm pleased with my transaction but did learn something-

ASK THE SHIPPER HOW THEY ARE SHIPPING. I agreed to pay shipping to me regardless of purchases. My shipper did a great job of describing, packaging, etc, and sent them UPS. That cost $13.50 I shipped back USPS (a little late ;J) with delivery confirmation for $4.30.

In the future, I'll request USPS w/ delivery conf. On the other hand, I have several successful transactions and can probably get away with that - but I wouldn't lend to anyone I couldn't get references on anyway...

Keep up the good work and honor the honor system!

Beware to anyone who's considering doing business with muddywater23. I sent him a SideArmor belt holster for a G17, and a Fobus double mag holster through this thread. He received it, told me that he liked it, and now has refused to answer e-mails in over a week. My message tracking for PM's shows that he's been on-line, but doesn't answer PM's. No cash forwarded, no holster returned.

In case he builds a new ID, his name is Eric Sanchez of Shelby Twp, MI. If you need more explicit details or the soured deal, drop me an e-mail at budophylus@satx.rr.com

I also sent him a Sidearmor IWB for a G19. He told me he liked it and would be sending payment soon. I've emailed him 3 times in the past 7-10 days or so with no response. I just figured that he's really busy and unable to check his email. I think (hope) he'll come through.

I use to do a lot of trading of seeds and plants over the internet. It wasn't unusual for some traders to take a while to respond to emails or to send their part of the trade. Sometimes they have to deal with emergencies or other life troubles that makes email take a second seat. I hope that's what happened to Eric.

If you're out there Eric, I hope everything is OK. I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

I like to try IWB holsters from bladetech, mitch rose, sparkks, kramer, don hume, and ect in LH for sig229,hkc,g23,g27.I don't have one for 229 at this time, and the others i got galco sumer comfort. Like to test drive other brands.

I'm looking to try SOB gor g27,maybe g23,hkc,hkusp,sig220st.

I'm interesting in trying ones for usp45,sig220,1911 in drop leg, like safari 6004,Blackhawk,eagle,SOT,Taylor.

I'm also interested in a g27 ankle rig in leather.

To bad we can't make a list of all the holsters we tried and what we end up liking in each holster version as far as brand and ect. Like a poll, could save others a lot of time.

If you do a search here on GT, you'll find lots of threads regarding this topic. Several threads even have pictures of the holsters concealed and unconcealed.

As far us what people like, you'll find that what works for one person may not work well for another person. That's why there are so many options and extra holsters out there. There are many great holsters to choose from, but you have to actually try them to know what will and will not work for you.

Good luck in your search!

I would be interested in an IWB holster for both a G19 and a G36.

Both my Uncle Mike's and Fobus OWB holsters are interchangeable between these two. Anyone else had the same experience?

If anyone wants to try a shoulder holster I have a generic nylon one I used to use for my G-22. It has a double mag holder on the off side. I bought replacement last year when I though I had lost the old one. Its nothing fancy but would be good to see if you like using a shoulder holster before you buy a good one.

Does anyone have a 1911 Shoulder holster (leather) that they don't use? I'm considering that method of carry for use under a suit jacket but am not sure if it will work out for me or not. Let me know if you have one that you would let me try out, thanks in advance!

I'd love to trade it for an Alessi Talon Plus for the same pistol, or any other Hi Power IWB holster that has some type of protection for the thumb safety (so the pistol doesn't tear up my shirt and me!). AK,
I carry a g-19 in a royal guard and couldn't be happier. I think i've lost a slight bit of speed over Kydex, but it's really comfortable, quiet (No Click upon presentation), and although I have some concern over retention, I haven't had any problems. Even sliding down a good sized hill during a Search & Rescue call out, didn't knock it loose.
Holsters are funny things though and a very personal decision. Best of luck finding a loaner, I think you'll like it.

Bill, that's a valuable insight you have there for someone getting ready to clothe a G19, and naturally the perfect forum for it. I've never used Kydex but seems, for personal IWB carry at 4 o'clock that just seems it could get uncomfortable, but want something beyond just sliding it in there. I'm non-LEO, just personal carry; and I'm almost always partial to leather vs. non, just personal bias. How long did you use a Kydex style before going to the Royal Guard? You can point me to other link or email rather than use more of this thread if you like. (Yeah, ever-optimistic about WI CCW.)

Unless noted, they are right hand rigs for a new frame Glock M19. All belt loops are 1.75-inches.

Blade-Tech Gunsite Model Belt Hoslter & Mag Pouch for old-frame Glock M19 only. [Will not accomodate FGR frame]

Wraptor Paddle Holster [short coverage Yaqui-slide type]
Wraptor Belt Holster [One Left Hand & one Right Hand. both short coverage Yaqui Slide-type]
Wraptor Paddle Holster [full coverage, Beretta 92F]
Talon single mag pouch & Talon double mag pouch

I've also got two leather loaners. First, an Ernie Hansen custom pancake style . Ernie is a longtime leo and adjunct at Thunder Ranch. He doesn't do many holsters anymore since he retired from the SO and became the Chief of Police. [some retirement, huh?] However his gear is amazing. This one is a double thickness natural leather and has a steel adjustment band sandwiched between the layers at the muzzle end. The adjustment screw is missing, but the rig is still tight as you'd want. The other was made by Jim Murnak at Fist. It is also a pancake rig. This one is in black leather and has had a tension screw and a reinforcing band added to their basic design. It has 1.25 loops.

Borrower pays shipping and they are welcome to a 'test run'.

And here is a pic of a Mad Dog Straight Drop Belt Holster for an old-style Glock 17/22 [right hand 1.75-inch belt], the Comp-Tac CTAC Slide and three of the Wraptor holsters. The first Wraptor is the paddle, yaqui-slide type that fits all Glocks [all!!! M26 through M21]. The second is a full coverage paddle rig for Berretta 92-series guns and the third is a left hand belt slide for all Glocks.

The Sidearmor pictured is the same as in the previous pic, it slipped into this pic by mistake.

Paul Gomez
02-07-2004, 15:16
This pic is just odds & ends. First is a horizontal belt carrier for a Surefire 6P. Next is the standard Surefire carrier. The double mag pouch is adjustable to fit any double column magazine [from a Browning Hi-Power to a Bren Ten:)]. It's made by the same firm that made the Wraptor hoslters pictured previously. And the two pouches at bottom right are both bulb-down carry units for Surefire lights. The small one is for a 6P and the large one is for an M3 Millenium.

Does anyone have any exp. w/ Don Hume Leather? Specifically, an IWB for a Glock 30? Opinions on the best IWB for the 30 would be appreciated.

Not sure if an ankle rig is the right CCW solution for me and my G36. Would appreciate if someone would let me borrow his for a short time or would want to sell in case it works for me.

Thanks and let me know if you need references.

I have a FED Paddle with thumbreak for a G30 that is in great condition.

I also have a Bianchi Top Secret Fanny Pack that have never been worn. It will only fit a 26/27 if you are using the factory base plates. The mag extensions do not work.

I need to sell both, and they will go for a good price.

I would think you could score a Uncle Mikes OWB Kydex for under 20 dead presidents.........

I already have a Bianchi 100 IWB (it's too thick w/gun to hide) and also a Sidearmor IWB (which I LOVE!!), and now I'm looking for a nice belt holster like a Dillon Master. It tucks the gun right up close to the body to cover with a shirt or jacket. Unlike an Uncle Mikes, the Dillon puts the weapon closer to the body for concealment.:)

GTA,
You are so correct about UM holsters. They do have a tendency to print more than most. That is why I don't use it anymore. 19.99 or not.

But they are great for walking around GSSF matches, or even shooting/practicing IDPA. I have an UM's for my G17, and although it's a paddle, it works great and doesn't print too much. But the G30 is just too thick for one of those. But they are good holsters!

I have a g23c and a new fobus roto holster.
I am new to the shooting club thing and have not joined any clubs as of yet.
however i am looking for a good-o newbee holster that wont break my wallet.
when shooting what type of holster can we use? and what is the norm? (ie, belt, paddle, tacital?).
i guess i will be in the begginer class since i have never been to a club shoot before. Thanks in advance:)
