View Full Version : I want my new guns!!!
A buddy and i just bought some new firearms a couple of days ago.
I picked up a Glock 30, which is my first G-Gun. My friend picked up a Glock 22.
I also bought a Mossberg 500 shotgun the same day.
Now I am counting the days until I get my guns this coming Friday.
I've been dry firing my hand all day, and making shotgun racking noises too. I think I've lost it. Freakin 10 day limit!!

10 day limit? Never heard of such a thing! ;P
edited to say...it'll be worth the wait!;f
It's a great "feature" of living in the state of California.
10 day waiting period on ALL guns including long guns that are purchased.

10 days!;Q Here in AZ, background check takes less than 10 minutes normally and off you go with your new firearm. More States need to have gun laws like Texas and Arizona. Well, I guess things could be worse than waiting ten days.
Hang-in there Timish, you'll have your new G30 and shotgun before you know it. You just got to keep your mind on something else in the meantime. A watched pot never boils.;) ;f

Thanks guys!
Yeah, only a couple more days to go and my friend and I get to pick them up.
We are going to go King Dork and take pictures and the whole lot. Maybe a Glock Party, who knows. (No beer, only SODA!)
T-Minus 3 days and counting.;C ;I
You didn't happen to buy them from Turners? Only reason I ask is that they had a special on the Mossberg 500 with an 8 shot tube and 20" barrel for 199. How much did the G30 cost? Most of the time I have found that places in CA sell guns for about 100.00 more than say NV, or AZ.
I have found CA firearm legislation interesting in a "what the hell" kind of way. The 10 day waiting period isn't for the background check. The check is as you say 1-10 minutes. The 10 day period is a cooling off period. They figure that your anger will subside enough by the time you pick up your equipment. Not only is there a 10 day wait, but you are limited to only 1 handgun per month in CA. Talk about making it difficult. I say infringment. CA is never going to be like TX or AZ. Don't even think about CCW, especially in the LA area. Hey, at least they don't prohibit you from owning them period right? Gun purchasing regulations aren't the only merits for living in your desired state.
Hi,
Affirmative on picking up the Mossberg 500 at Turners. I ended up going to the store two days before the sale started to ensure I would get one at that price. Seemed like a good deal for a good HD boomstick.
The Glock I bought at another local vendor along with my friend. Picked up the 30 for $600 out the door.
I was planning on buying a Glock 21 in a month to keep the 30 company and have a full size 45, but I am looking at the Springfield 1911 that Turner's has for sale now and it looks like a nice piece.
California isn't half bad for living. Weather is great, good employment opportunity. Women are kinda psycho here though. My next stop in life may be Texas or Florida.
Los Angeles is impossible to get a CCW as you say.

Congrads on your new guns,But I'm glad I live in Georgia where it takes me a whole 5 minutes to buy a gun.Sometimes that 5 mins seems like forever.
Hey guys,
My friend and I picked up our new guns on Friday.
We went to the outdoor range today.
I fired 250 rounds through the 30, first 50 were Blaser ammo, the last 200 was Winchester UMC. Only had one round that misbehaved and it was a defective round. Shot like crap though, low and to the right so i definitely need more practice. I bought the 30 without ever firing one because I liked the 21 which was the first Glock I ever fired. I added some pearce grips which made the gun more comfy to hold.
Mossberg was another story. I shot 80 rounds of 12 gauge buckshot (yes I am a glutton for punishment) and after never firing a shotgun before in my life it was a blast, literally.
All in all a great day but both of us need more practice with our new rigs. His G22 worked well, stovepiped a couple times, but that was it.
High point of day was firing my friend's M14 rife at a target 100 yds out and hitting it 3 out of the 5 rds I fired, after never firing a rifle before.

Glad you finally got your G30 and Mossberg.:) Yeah, practice, practice, and more practice.;) Low and to the right, I'm guessing your're left-handed? Mostly right-handed new shooters tend to shoot low and to the left. I bet the shotgun was a blast. Yep, most G30 owners I hear about usually get the pearce grip extensions for their mags. Good luck with the new firearms and enjoy.

I am right handed and I think I am getting used to the trigger pull or anticipating recoil with the 30.
Haven't been out to the range since but I have to make some time to go this week.
Had a nice bruise from the SG 80 round blast.
I can't image how it would have been if I used 3 inch magnums instead of the 2 3/4 shells I used.

Los Angeles is impossible to get a CCW as you say.
Orange county - issues fair number of CCWs
Kern county - issues a WHOLE lot of CCWs
There was a time in my life when that 30 day wait bettween handgun purchases would have been a real headache for me. But that was b4 I had a mortgage, .. and now two mortgages... well I have found myself selling my guns rather than buying any.
What got me was when Cali started requiring the 10 day cooling off period for C&R guns! :( I used to love going to gun Cali shows and comming home with a new Russian SKS, or an interesting Mauser or what not. :(
