Loaded the following the other day and got 'em tested Saturday.

All Speer cases, all WSP primers.

10.7 AA7 200 FMJ Berrys plated Avg 921.74 fps, Extreme spread 60.76, SD 29.30. Really starting to like AA7 for the GAP!

5.5 Universal 200 FMJ Berry's plated Avg 713.10, Extreme spread 111.20, SD 46.50. There was an error reading 1 shot, so I believe that was why the spread was so much. Will bump up a bit for next week's round of testing.

5.8 Universal 185 JHP Avg 856.09 ES 74.65 SD 35.56

6.0 Universal 185 JHP Avg 919.24 ES 101.17 SD 43.78 Looked like some primer flow starting to happen. 6.3 grains is the max listed by Hodgdon. Will try it again next week & see what happens.

Didn't have a chance to check for accuracy, got pretty busy after I chrono'd these. Will do accuracy tests next weekend, as well as more chrono work.

May break down and get some Hodgdon's Longshot and try it, too.

Steve: I believe you'll have better luck and stand a much better chance of retaining your eyeballs and digits if you stick to a slower powder, such as AA#7. Heavy bullets and fast powders are great recipes for disaster. Won't take much of a bullet setback to give you a very bad day.

Thanks, Walter, I believe you are right. I was going by the published data from Hodgdon's with the Universal, but I wasn't real happy with the results.

I reckon I can start a powder box, like some folks have a holster box ;g

Here is a shot of a couple of the odd looking primers I talked about above, the 185 JHP with 6.0 Universal.
