Forgive me. I haven't logged in here in a while. But didn't this use to be called the Big Dawgs Club?

Anyway, I'm 45 and I only became interested in guns two years ago, when I bought my first gun. It was the Glock 21. Since then I've acquired the smaller Glock 30, a Marlin 30/30 rifle, and just this week, I bought a Remington 870 shotgun. My question pertains to my new Remington. What would the slug shells be used for? I saw a story at Remington's web site where a fifteen year boy killed a charging grizzly bear with an 870 loaded with slug shells. The location is: http://www.remington.com/whatsnew/myRemington/myremctry_storyboard.asp?category=&UID=1018

I know this doesn't pertain to the .45 Glock, and I hope you'll excuse the non relevant question.
