That 230 Ranger T load looks promising. I use the 230+P .45ACP version in my G30 now. Hopefully it will trickle out of the LE channels into the "regular" market.

Just goes to show those naysayers that it is very possible to load 230gr projectiles with this brass.^d

Wonder how they managed to do that when Speer could not; bet they wanted too.

Hope Speer doesn't know sumthin' bad about that Winchester has yet to find out? Some folks think the 180/40s are more likely to kB than the lighter bullets, wonder if a 230 GAP isn't looking for trouble?

Wonder if that will effect reliability/durability, since the pistols were designed with lighter bullets/less momentum in mind?

Also wonder why Win didn't pump up the velocity on the 185 ST to the 1020 Speer has w the GD.

Looking at FBI test results for the 185 .45 bullets at the same velocities, the 185 GD and GS look better than the 185 ST.

A 185 .45 Taurus Hex bullet in the GAP would be wundebar!? Hope the all copper bullet isn't too long... ;b

Well we just got in some white box Winchester 230gr GAP. We had the chrono set up and her are some interesting results;
GAP ammo, Win 230gr FMJ 830fps avg
Speer 200gr GD 1015fps avg
Speer 200gr lawman 990fps avg
ACP ammo,from 5" colt
CCI 230gr cleanfire 815fps avg
S&B 230gr FMJ 810fps avg
Win 230gr TMJ 815fps avg
Fed 230gr HS 860fps avg

This sure does sound like a tie to me! I love my 37!
Just to let all of you know, when CCI produces the GAP in 'cleanfire' my department will be adding it to our inventory. Barring any interference from command staff.

I was cruising Books a Million and one of the gun magazines had a 45GAP review. Nice write-up. The suprise was the mention that Springfield was gearing up an extreme duty in 45GAP. (XD-45GAP???) I had not heard that before. Good news with respect to this round succeeding. I hope its not just a rumor.
