I have wanted to ask this question for a while, but I figured I'd wait until the gun was on the market for a while.

By now several of you guys have had the chance to shoot the 45 glock a lot.

I have considered trying one, but I don't really see the advantage.

What distinguishes this round from .45 ACP and other rounds?

The 45 GAP offers the 45 size hole and speed in a 9 mm size grip and frame which in return you get a much smaller gun with a .45 size hole in the barrel.

I have short stubby fingers. The Glock 37 allows me a smaller 9mm frame which means better grip. Try one if you have a chance. You'll fall in love with it like I did. Smaller/better grip and the same balistics as the ACP.

Whats the recoil on the .45GAP like, compared to say, a regular .45 or a .40?

Our duty ammo is the Speer Gold Dot 9mm 124gr+p or the 45acp 200gr+p. We shot the 9mm out of a Glock 17 and the acp out of a Glock 21. As expected the Speer Gold Dot 200gr GAP recoiled a little more than the 9mm but considerably less than the ACP. We clocked the velocity of the GAP at 980fps, while the +P duty 45 ammo does 1040fps. When we used a shot timer, the split times for the GAP was slightly slower than the 9mm but considerably faster than the ACP. The smaller grip of the Glock 37 helps. After about 200 rounds, my buddy was beating me on split times, me with a 17 and he with his 37! I would assume that the GAP would be right on par with a 180gr 40cal in the recoil department. I can tell you that the GAP is a blast to shoot and load. Try one.

I still think this makes more sense in a Glock than anything else.

The GAP is a shorter .45, but it's still .45 fat. There are already double stack 45 ACPs on the market that feel as slim as the GAP; look at the SW99, Beretta Cougar, and USP compact in 45 ACP.

Glock could have given us pretty much the same thing in 45 ACP by slimming down the G21 w this same mag, or an all metal mag. Probably would have if they knew the G17/22 size slide wasn't gonna work like it didn't and they were gonna ned up w a thicker slide anway. By then it was probably too late, or GG is just too stubborn? ;)

I doubt ya could tell the difference between a double stack 45 ACP SIG P220 and a P226 in 45 GAP. Only way it would make sense for other gun companies is they already have double stack mags for the 9/40, all they gotta do is tweak the feed lips. If it sells, they will do just that?

Oh, another thing... I think this is the slide and spring that should have been on the 40 Glocks since the beginning! ;b
