Since I had the day off I headed down to a nearby creek where salmon are making their yearly sprawl upstream. It's catch/release only. I used a (barbless) Mepps Agila #5 with great success on a medium action rod with 10lb line. I hooked about 15 although I only managed to land 6. I tell ya, it's frustrating when they shake the hook after a 6-8 minute fight. This one pee'd on my foot just as the picture snapped... He was the largest one I actually landed, but I saw another guy upstream land one that was even bigger.

Here's an average sized fish below. This one did not pee on me.

Here's my wife during a 10-minute fight with a monster that just didn't want to be lifted out of the water. It was the largest we hooked today. It got away as I was reaching for it.

Watching these salmon swim up the creek is really something else to watch, it's like being in Alaska, but lots closer. Some of them looked like they had "the mange", and some of them were really nice.

This creek is catch & release only, per fish and game.
