View Full Version : Cost of flying in the US?
What's the average hourly rate for hiring a light single in the US (aeroplane not woman)?
I had to give up my regular flying in the UK four years ago when the rate hit £100 (@$175) an hour.

Here's a link to the place I learned to fly. Their C-172's are going for $70-79 an hour.

Edit: I know what you're saying about prices going up. When I was learning to fly over 10 years ago, the price of a C-152 was $35 an hour and a C-172 was $40. Those were the good old days.

I haven't rented in a couple years, but a C152 was $38 an hour (Fort Worth).
When I started taking lessons, dual in a Piper Colt was $12 an hour. $6 an hour, solo, for a J3 Cub.
Couldn't hardly afford that at the time:)
