Having decided on purchasing a G37, I am wondering if I should wait to see if a G37C is introduced. Anyone here with inside info?

Thanks.

Mike

I'm sure there will be. I'm hoping for one anyway.

Why would you want that?

Why do they make more than just vanilla ice cream?

Pretty dumb question for somebody who has been here since 1999.

Coogan your correct, it probably was a dumb question. I just don't see an advantage to porting a low pressure round like the .45 GAP and I was hoping to better understand why this would be desirable.

Perhaps I could have worded my question better.

I apologhize for being so curt. Please accept my apologies. Since the boon of the "AOL-idiots" on so many fine boards I keep my guard up nowadays.

Anyway, I have wanted to get a ported Glock for sometime now. I was hoping that I would be able to kill two birds with one stone. No other reason.

No reason to apologize, I see how the wording of my question might not have been very clear.

I've had a little experience with "C" model Glocks (it was a 17C that belonged to a good friend) and I wasn't too impressed. The pistol shot great but I couldn't tell much difference in perceived recoil between it and my G17. Maybe there was more difference than I remember but a 9mm isn't a big "kicker" anyway.

One thing I do remember clearly in the G17C was much more ammunition sensitive than my G17. The G17C would choke on handloads that worked perfectly in the G17. Admittedly these loads were somewhat reduced, but not that much.

In the .45 ACP, and now the .45 GAP, the volume of gas generated isn't huge and the operating pressure is low (compared to the 10mm, .40 S&W, .357 Sig, etc) so I wonder just how much porting would really help. Then, as in the case of the 17C, if the pistol is more ammunition sensitive would this trade-off be acceptable. The answer is not to me.

If a ported G37 is your cup of tea go for it (when/if they become available). My recommendation is do your homework first and then make an informed decision. There is no free lunch-anytime you get something you give up something else.

Good shooting

I just like the ports and the cute little C next to the number;)

Joking aside, I think the only ports that make a big difference are those on the G24C and that's because there are four ports.

I also don't like the way the escaping gases black the front sight.

That's the best part.:)
