View Full Version : Surplus ammo
I saw an ad for Korean surplus for 30-06. FMJ, non-corrosive and reloadable cases. Are they ok to use in hunting rifle just for practice and fun? It wouldn't hurt the bore would it?

I shoot bunches of surplus ammo and enjoy it. Stay away from corrosive if you can. If not YOU MUST CLEAN THE SAME DAY! Some is better than others, but for plinking if is cheaper, don't hunt with it though.

I'd say pretty much anything older than 70's is corrosive (or I'd treat it that way). I don't have a 30.06, but do have a 8mm Mauser and all the milsurp is corrosive even the one which said it wasn't. So clean quickly and smartly (a little windex or ammonia).
