OK IM going to be purchasing my first G30 next week and i have a few questions. First off i have never shot a 45 but have shot many 9mm's. IM wondering how the recoil will be in the G30 compared to lets say a 9mm. Will it be tremendous or be just a little bit more than the 9mm.
Thanks
Justin

Depends on what .45 ammo you're shooting. I would say that at the least you're looking at a moderate, but manageable, increase. You get into +P rounds and it will get to be quite a bit more. Plenty of people handle it though.

Thanks, I think i will just shoot the "average "round for a wile and for the break in so i can get a good stong feel for the weapon and how it performs.

Quite honestly, I would rather have the recoil of the G30 than a 9mm. The .45 is best described as a push, and the width of the 30 soaks it up and spreads it across your hand and in my opinion is better than the flip of the 9's and .40's. Of course everyone is different, so you may find different results.
if you can start with some lighter loads...
185gr. or 200gr. little bit easier on recoil.
230gr. being the biggest if you didnt know already.....
bible freak. man you must be really differant!!lol
almost anyone can shoot a 9mm. a lot of people have a hard time taming "the" .45 . especially in mini guns.
i shoot very, very well with my g-30 and cannot rapid fire or even double tap anywhere near as fast as with a 9mm.
unless youre just talking about the differances in the baby glocks

I dont understand your reply that i have quoted above. The reason i was asking about the recoil is i dont want a gun that the reocil is so bad it is hard to get the weapon back on target after firing.
Anyways thanks for all the replys and i will let you know how thigns go.

Maybe I just enjoy it more, or possibly it is my mind set. I also shoot the .45 much more accurately. For reference I am comparing a 1911 and a G30 to a G17, a CZ75, and a sub-compact Baby Eagle. The exception is a friend with a Sig M2 in .45 as I can't shoot that thing to save my life! A little bias can make a lot of difference, and I have a lot of bias to the .45!!
justin lewis...
what im talking about is fractions of a second. yeah, i cant do it as fast as a 9mm. but really, really close. fast enough where i would want to carry a .45 over a 9mm.!!
it is an excellent gun. once you get used to the recoil. (which isnt that bad).
from my statement above. thats one of the "arguments' in the 9mm vs. .45 on going debate in the world...
.45 is believed by "most" people/research to have bettering "stopping power" ect. but slower velocity. harder shot/to shot control.
the trade off with a 9mm is better shot to shot recovery, higher velocity, but less stopping power ect....

IM with you on the 45s I think i would prefer the 45 to carry than the 9mm. 45's just ROCKhttp://forums.ok-speed.com/images/smilies/airguitar.gifhttp://forums.ok-speed.com/images/smilies/rockxtreme.gif

The G30 is one of the (possibly THE) softest shooting .45s out there. I've shot dozens of models of .45 pistols, and carry my 30 daily.
A friend of mine (two in fact) both female, about 5'3 or 5'4 easily shot the .45 even though it was the first major-caliber pistol they'd fired. They preferred 9mm, but had no problem handling a .45. One of them was a 5'4 115lb paramedic and she shot the .45 better than a .380.
Don't worry about it.
