View Full Version : G30 back strap plug
Just got a new G30 and would like to get a grip plug for it. The big question is which one; Slug Plug, Deep6Comp, Jentra, or something else? Is magazine capacity a factor, and if so, how or why?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
it has nothing to do with magazine capacity. it doesnt interfer with the mag. i wouldnt spend to much money on it until youve tried one at the store on any glock or yours.
i happened to pick one up for like $2.00 on clearance. i wish i wouldnt have spent it!!lol it looks/feels like a peice of crap to me...
i think mine is the plasic "jentra" model.... just my .02.
Well I'm far from an expert, but . .
Wouldn't mag capacity be an issue if you were using the 9 rnd vs 10 rnd.
I don't have any of the 9 rounders but it is my understanding that these sit flush on the grip whereas the 10 round mags have the "pinky grip" that sticks out of the base.
I have heard complaints regarding various other plugs but never the Deep6Comp. I have one of these plugs in my 30 and I could hold the entire gun by the plug itself. It's in to stay.
Although I never "live fired" the 30 prior to installing the plug, the grip felt very much improved after the plug.
Based on limited experience with 1 model, I wouldn't have a Glock w/o a Deep6Comp plug - that's just me - YMMV.

The plug fits in the opening just behind the magazine well. The idea behind plugging it is that it is supposed to prevent dust and other debris from getting up into the mechanism. this may not be a bad idea but don't spend too much. The ones on ebay often charge as much for shipping as the part is worth. This has nothing to do with the magazine or its capacity.
The magazine extensions which provide a place to rest your pinky finger is something else all together. The ones for the preban magazines like the 13 round G21 mags(which will work in the G30) sometimes could add 1 or 2 to mag capacity. The ones for the post ban (including G30 mags) do not generally add capacity, only a finger rest. For me the G30 10 round mag does just fine both in capacity and as finger rest.
glike.... i would hightly recomend spending the money on pierce grip extnsions. i personally like the way the 10rd. fits with the "3rd finger lip" on it.
Save your money and don't buy a butt plug. It really doesn't do anything.

Quite the contrary, whenever I hold my model 30 without plug, I would get blister on bottom of my palm from shooting lots of bullets because back of the magazine base would rub against my skin. When I installed the plug, I never had any blister problem again.

You know, I just noticed for the first time that my G30 has one of these. I bought it used. I wonder how I could have possibly missed that one??
