Well, last night I went ahead and took the plunge. I bought my first gun, and a Glock 21 to boot (SN EYNxxxUS). I had shot the 21 a couple times, and I also shot a couple boxes out of a 20 that night, but my hand tended to cramp from the recoil of the 20, plus the price difference in 10mm ammo kinda kicked in as well.
I took it home and gave it a good cleaning and spent the evening doing some dry-firing practice. I think I've got a better idea of why my groupings were scattered and low/left, so that's good. Now I just need to get back out to the range to break her in.
What do you folks recommend for practice ammo? I'm looking for stuff that's relatively cheap (so I can shoot a lot more of it), relatively accurate, and reliable. Also, I kinda toyed with the idea of the Advantage Arms kit -- are they worth the price? I mean... if I can go out there and shoot a few hundred rounds of .22 ammo for the price of a box of .45 that would probably be good practice for me too.
Now if I could only find a public range here in Montgomery, AL (where I work) so I wouldn't have to wait till the weekends (which I spend in Atlanta, where I currently live) to go shooting. Argh! ;a
