For those who have been or know anything about the gun shoot that takes place there... Is this more of a shooting event or a gun show or both? If I go, could I expect to find a lot of NFA weapons for sale? If so, are the prices high, low, average?
Thanks
I've never been, and may never. I know too many people, who I trust and respect, who have very little good to say about the facility and management. These people are not complainers or prima donnas by nature, so I have to put some stock in what they say.
Edited to correct grammatical error...

Thats the first complaint I've heard about Knob Creek. As a spectator, its a great time. Maybe vendors and participants have a different story. Someone seems to like it, because its always a big event.
Basically its a machinegun shoot and military flea market. Folks come from all over the country to play with every imaginable flavor of full-auto. Glock 18's to AK's to some monster that looked like a GE minigun. Lots of WWII and other historical arms, so big that they are wheeled in on trailers. Imagine standing at the line with dozens and dozens of folks simultaneously letting it rip on a 300 yard range. Then imagine the same thing at night with tracers, shooting at cars and barrels full of fuel. Fun stuff. Can't comment on the NFA prices as, sadly, I've never been in the market.

go to subguns.com nfa discussion and ask this question. it is a good show if you are looking for nfa parts or an odd nfa item. common stuff tends to be priced high. The managment acts sometimes like they hate people and the security buffons are proud of there orange t-shirts if gives them lots of power almost as much as a mall ninja. I have been before and will go again. but if you want to actually shoot nfa come see us in Camden Tn. in march or at a local shoot here in Ga. 1 thing if you go take lotsa cash and take some more cash as well you will need it. also strong kids are a plus;f ammo is heavy

Went last fall, just to see what all the hype was about. Crowd on Sunday was *very* light. Maybe it was the Bowers crowd boycotting? ;P Watching on the main line was cool, but the big targets (drums, RVs, etc) were placed WAAAAAAAY out there for the big-caliber belt-feds; the guys with MP-5s, Uzis, MACs and the like weren't able to do much except blow ammo downrange. Watching the minigun *destroy* a Winnebago in one long burst was... memorable. ;f And a word to those who haven't been - the main line is just a spectating event; the waiting list to actually *shoot* there is literally YEARS long. They do have a second range down the hill a bit where they do MG rentals, that seemed to also be available for open shooting. Not sure what the range fee is to shoot down there.
The trade show is uber-cool to browse if you're into NFA gear. MGs for sale were mostly post-86 samples or overpriced transferables. Good deals on parts, mags & ammo, and some pre-ban semi-auto rifles (ARs and AKs).
I'll go again in April; probably go down Saturday afternoon, do the show, and stay for the night shoot. It's nice being just a couple hours away from KCR.

I love knob creek. It one of my favorite places on earth :)
The machine gun shoot is mostly about. well, machine guns. And if thats what you are into, then it is an excellent chance to meet people in the business. Unfortunately, every year there are fewer and fewer transferable machineguns to be had there and the prices are getting ever higher, due to supply and demand. No supply, big demand.
As for comments about the management. During the show, thousands of people come there, and security is a big issue with millions of dollars worth of things laying about. Most of the "guards" are friends of Kenny, the owner, and as such, they are a bit, shall we say eccentric :)
Of course, I lived right down the street from Knob Creek, so I went all the time, just to shoot my machine gun, or whatever I have with me that day,I've been going for 20 years, bought my first gun there, so I know 'em pretty well. Never had a problem with management, or anyone else there.
When the shoot isn't going on, the gun shop has pretty good prices, and noone ever gives me the trade in that they do on an old gun.
Like I said, one of my favorite places on earth :)

I have not posted in a long time but felt the need to here.
I love KCR and it also was my first time EVER seeing a full auto firearm or for that mater firing one.
You will never see anything like it in your life unless you are or have been in the military. If you want to have an idea what our boys have/had to put up with you will at KCR shoot. Forget the fake movies this is for REAL.
Kenny is a great guy but you might have an attitude now and then if you had to deal with all the fools that he has to day in day out.
Anyways we have to support places like KCR because if some people had their way they would bulldoze it over and put a Wal-Mart in its place.
Not many places like it in the US or the world for that mater.
I’m just lucky to have a place like it only 30min away.
