under the "Black Rifle Club" we need a little saying like the rest of the clubs... I came up with this one "The place where the mysterious black rifle and all it's accessories are discussed. Ask all your M16/AR questions here!"

A tiny correction: I'm very used to see the M16/AR15 spelling, so "M16/AR" looks "wrong" to me ;g

Well... you're right. I'm just so focused on my soon to have and to hold (not the mention shoot!) Bushmaster AR-15, that the words floating through my head were at the time: "There can be only one!" ;f ;f

Agree with Dark_IT_Papa on the M16/AR15 thing.

I'd say let's make sure the club description provides some focus; using "black rifle" and other terms that could be used to describe other military-style guns, as well as the fact that ArmaLite and other folks are making green and cammy ARs could confuse/cloud the issue. How about:

"The place where fans of AR-15/M16 style rifles can discuss weapons, ammo, accessories and related subjects. ARs -- the All-American weapon system!"

Why is this limited to M16/AR15? Black rifles would include a lot more than that. I have FAL's, Galil's and AK's that are all black.

It needs to be a bit more inclusive for all black guns.

A little reading on the history of the AR platform in the American Military will explain the "Black Rifle" nomenclature.... If a rifle has wood stocks, it isn't exactly all black is it?.

This club was started to discuss the AR and it's variants. FAL's Galil's and AK's simply weren't designed by Eugene Stoner, so they aren't discussed in great detail here :)

I have to disagree with this. Black guns or black rifles is commonly used as a generic term to cover any type of "assualt rifle". There are many types of black rifles out there and it would seem logical to include them in a black rifle forum.

If it was a forum to talk about AR's, then thats what it should be named. I guess if you called it the Stoner forum you could also include the AR180.

Well, if you look at the vote thread that was used to start this forum, it was called "AR15/M16 Club". Black Rifle Club was just a name to describe the AR15/M16 Club. No one voted for an assault rifle club. They voted for an AR club.

The "Black Rifle" was the nickname given to the M16 during viet nam. Liberals applied the label to everything else to make them seem dark and mysterious when they aren't the original reason the term was coined.

Black rifle is also used by most members of the gun community to describe all of these different types of weapons. The sniper hide and battle rifles forums come to mind right off hand.

Rather than making seperate forums for AK's, FAL's, H&K's, Galil/Valmets, etc. etc., wouldn't it make more sense to include them under one forum that everyone would understand to mean all "assualt rifles"?
