I believe they have their own mount...I know for sure that there are several other manufacturers that make better mounts...A.R.M.S is one...GG&G also..Im sure there are more that other will elaborate on....spend a day on AR15.com in the AR15 forum under optics and sites..you will learn a ton..

A.R.M.S. #22M68 is a very common one.

Knights Armament also makes a nice one.

GG&G has one.

LaRue Tactical has one as well.

There are off brands that are less expensive, but the point in a good mount is to get 100% line-up when the optics are removed and then replaced.

Be prepared to spend ~$100 or so on a mount. The scopes run about $400 new. Check out the Equipment Exchange over at AR15.com in the optics section. You can get good deals there. My last one was $150 shipped and included a factory mount. My buddy just picked one up from over there for $175 with two different mounts.

Deals are out there.

They didn't bring very many of those in-country before one of the Bans shut off the flow, IIRC. I've never handled the telescoping-stock version, but I shot the original fixed-stock one MANY years ago. I was favorably impressed with it at the time.

Has a high "cool-factor" IMO...

Well I’ve been getting rid of some things in the safe that weren’t getting used as much as I thought they should and ended up trading for this upper. It’s a free floated Bushy 20” heavy barrel. The USO SN4 I’ve been waiting on for my 16” AR showed up but I thought I’d mount it on this thing and see how she shoots. It has some weight to it but I think if it will hold MOA or better it could be an awesome urban SWS. The AAC can makes the 16” pretty dam quiet so I’m expecting even less sound from the 20”. I’ll try to get out tomorrow and get a range report.

My AR started out as this exactly…

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v733/Michigun/AR/pcwa2s16d.jpg

… a “post-ban” configured Bushmaster A2 Dissipator.

I’ve added the following:

(in order from stock to muzzle)

* 6-position collapsible stock assembly
* Brownells modified CAR-AMBI sling mount
* Single-point MOUT sling
* ACCU-Wedge (what he heck, figured I’d add one to my Brownells order)
* TangoDown Battlegrip (currently storing AA batteries)
* Magpul trigger guard
* Daniel Defense 12.0 free-float rail system
* TangoDown rail covers (X3, 1 has the tape-switch “pocket”)
* TangoDown Vertical Battlegrip (currently storing M3 batteries & not installed)
* Bushnell 52-0021 HOLOsight (about to become an EOTech 512.F)
* Ladder style rail covers (X3)
* Tac-Star 2000 Weapons Light system (SOON to be replaced with SureFire system)
* Phantom 5C2 flash hider (barrel had the be threaded 1st… ADCO did that for me)

Hom much you got into it so far? ^c

That's what I was thinking as well, HOWEVER, the main reason the Tac-Star will be replaced with a SureFire is because that light belongs on my AK.

You know, they say that the Tac-Star is cheap &/or a POS, but before it went on my AK it was on a Remington 870 12-gauge... it withstood more then a 100 magnum powered shells! Sense that it's withstood SEVERAL hundred rounds installed on my AK.

Here's my Bush Bunny lining up on his Bushmaster. Pretty much standard A2 cept it has a full heavy chromed barrel and a bud installed a RRA two stage trigger. This trigger is so sweet. The gun is almost undeserving of it. It's better than the factory trigger in my RRA.

Below it is my RRA with chromed barrel...

Thanks for the kind words Cclass :)

That optic is a 2x20 compact ACOG, model number TA47-2. It's the little brother of the larger TA11D pictured right above it. So far I like it a lot. It has generous eye relief and by mounting on the carry handle you can transition to irons instantly. I've been experimenting with two different mounting methods-here's the other method with a LaRue rail mount:

http://home.comcast.net/~cjan99999/M4_3.JPG

At this point I'm leaning toward the simplicity of the carry handle mount. There are a lot of optics that don't work particularly well on a carry handle, but this little ACOG works great!

Here is the TA47-2 reticle:

I actually prefer the compact ACOG to the full size. I think the 2x magnification is perfect.

Thanks for the info CJan_NH. My Bushy M4A3 is my first rifle (AR or otherwise) and I've been overwhelmed by all the optic choices that are available. I was leaning towards an ACOG but couldn't decide which one. I think that your setup will give me exactly what I'm looking for.

Sure. It's quite simple really. First I have to get an import license and a buyers permit from the local police. Then I send the import licens together with a purchase order to a licensed firearms exporter in the US (I used www.weareguns.com).

The seller then applies for an export license from the state department. When it's been approved, he ships the rifle to Finland. When it arrives here, it's taken in by customs. So I have to go to customs and show my buyers permit and pay 3% import tax + 22% sales tax on the total value. And voilá, the Bushy is in my hands ;f

Finnish gunlaws states that minimum allowed lengt of a sporting rifle is 840 mm (it's possible to have shorter, but it needs another type of permit), so with the rubber buttpad the Patrolmans Carbine is 841 millimeter when telestock is folded.

And since there is no law agains suppressors in Finland, the next thing on my rifle will probably be a finnish BR Sound Suppressor  -> http://guns.connect.fi/rs/

Could you tell me more about your midlength AR?
I have been looking for a AR for a couple of months now and
that is the gun I want. What do you have in it?
Can you give me a list of parts?
I was going to have ADCO Firearms do the build.
Thank you.

Rigormootis

Your best bet is to go t AR15.com and run a search on the AR15 forum for "midlength". It will give you more info than I can share here. Basically, a midlength 16" barrel gives you more velocity than a 14.5, without a sig decrease in manuverability & you don't have to have a perm muzzle device to make it >16" (which you would need to do for a 14.5" ...unless you send in for your tax stamp)...but unlike a CAR-gas set-up 16", the gas pressure working the system is closer to that of a 20" (as the AR was designed around) than the high pressures generated in 16" with CAR gas. These high pressures have multiple downsides...but you can deal with them....or chose a midlength. Personally, I think we'll see many more midlength barrles soon. You can get the same barrel I used under the "specials" section at ADCO.

Here are my parts...I'll be over specific to leave little to your imgination. ;)

Lower
RRA old style logo “US Property” lower
CMT LPK w/ RRA 2-stage match trigger
Hogue pistol grip (OD green)
Magpul M93A-R stock w/ HK-style single point sling loop

Upper
CMT A3 upper receiver w/ M4 cuts
AR15.com “Giffmann Special” group-buy midlength barrel (4150 steel, 1/7 twist, CL bore & chamber)
Smith Ent. Vortex FH
LaRue Tactical 9.0 FF forend w/ Magpul ladder rail protectors (OD green)
TangoDown forward vertical grip (OD green)
PRI Gas-buster CH

LaRue Tactical Aimpoint mount
Aimpoint M3 w/ 2MOA dot

Rigormootis - I have been looking at ar15.com for some time now.
I tried to register an account but they don't accept gmail accounts.
Thank you for the list I am printing the photo and list now, hope
you don't mind. Has your are been 100% out of the box? What kind of ammo do you shoot?
A friend sells ammo as a part time business and he can get me wolf cheap.
I know wolf sucks but it is cheap to shoot.

Rigormootis

I've not had it built up for very long, but I have fired 180rds of x855 (62gr.), 360rds of xm193 (55gr), and 30rds of Black Hills 75gr from it without a hitch. Truthfully, I have been building too many other rifles to shoot mine. ;g

I think you can still search AR15.com - even without an account - but if not, let me know and I'll help find you some direct links.

Here's my Frankenstein. It started life out as an Olympic Aarms (SGW) AR-15A1-1/2. The only component left from the original rifle is the lower receiver and bolt carrier group. The upper is an assembled Bushy flat top with lightweight 16-inch barrel.

DaleGribble,

The chest harness is a SOTech Hellcat Mk2 and I couldn't tell you for sure if AK mags would fit in them. You may want to check on the Lihtfighter forums to see if anyone hase used one with AK mags.

BTW, I got it new for a very good deal on the Lightfighter High End Swap Meet forum. ;)

Is that the regular flash hider that Bushmaster has on their M4/A3? I thought they had one that looked more like the real one.

AggiePhil,

I have the same model as ArmedCitizen with the A2 carry handle (fixed) and the flashhider is the Izzy Type from Bushmaster. Bushmaster does have the bridcage hiders as well but the Izzy is the one I've noticed more on their rifles lately.

I'm sure the birdcage can be mounted without any trouble.

That's the Bushy A2 sight ass'y detachable carry hande that I cut down and refinished.

In order to engage the picatinney rail, the aftermarket sights need to be positioned too far forward for me.

The cutdown retains the original sight position.

If you are talking about the one on the right with the Eotech, it's a Bushmaster M4A3. The second one on the left is an RRA post-ban carbine, not sure of the model though. The whole line of guns pictured are (L-R): Bushmaster, RRA, Eagle Arms, Bushmaster(mine), Colt and Bushmaster(also mine). The one in the front is a Galil (not mine).

I have only one complaint, they don't stake the gas tube after attaching it to the carrier. I took a carbine class and another guy with a model 1 sales AR had his gas tube come loose and he was out of commission for a while. The instructor noticed that it was not staked down. This was after a few hundred rapid fire rounds. So I fixed mine and I have no complaints. I don't rapid fire that one anyways, I use it more as a one shot one kill Yote sniper rifle! It's super accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. Also the price was right ($465) and they ship it to your door. Some people don't like them, I've never had any problems with mine, including the gas tube before I staked it.
