View Full Version : Dedicated .22 upper

Well, after having my AR sit in the safe for months for lack of a decent place to shoot, I broke down and bought a dedicated 22LR upper for it. Most fun I've had with my pants still on ;f

Believe it is a Vulcan Arms upper. Never heard of them before, but it seems to work OK (now). Had a few hitches with it installing, but a bit of stoning, and some oil, and it works great! Carbon fiber upper, aluminum free-floating handguard, flat top. Works dandy with a Bushnell Holosight

Only came with 1 - 10 round mag. Bought some DPMS mags from Midway, but they are a bit different. Had to take a file and take off a nub on the left rear in order to make the fit/work. But they do!

Had really wanted a 45ACP, 40S&W or 10mm upper, but those things are sky high! And 50.00 for an extra 10 round mag is insane. I don't have any 9mm guns, so that was why 9mm didn't make the list.

Anyway, its great to take my EBR to work with me and watch jaws drop as I get it out of its bag and start putting itty-bitty cartridges in the mags ;f

Sorry about the Atlantic Firearms logo in the pic - I saved it off the auction from Gunbroker. I have no other affiliation with them.

That's pretty interesting. I'd like to get something like that. I like to shoot a LOT of rounds in a day, and I can't afford as many 5.56 rounds as I'd like.

If you don't mind me asking, what did that upper cost you? I'm sure it's there, but I didn't see it on their website.

Also, do they make mags larger than 10 rounds?

295.00 + shipping (14.00?? via FedEx). Extra 10 rounders were 19.00 thru Atlantic, but they were out. Factory had 30 rounders for about 70.00!! Midway has (had?) the DPMS for 22.00, but they needed filing to make work.

I read of on guy cutting up 30 rd. magazines the putting it over the 22 clip to make it look like a 5.56 mag. Looked pretty good.
