View Full Version : Hogue pistol grip
Anyone have a Hogue pistol grip on their AR? Good/bad? Any trouble to install?

I doubt you could go wrong with a Hogue, although I've never used one.
You also might want to look into these. They replace the whole grip instead of just slipping on over the existing one....for about the same price as the slip on. I'm going to order the First Samco.

I was reading THIS (http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=180120) thread this morning on AR15.com.
btw, I have and like the Ergo grip.

I have the Houge grip and free float tube on my Colt Tactical Elite (came this way from the factory) and I like it. Feels real good off of the bench but I do not rapid fire this AR. Thats what my Bushmaster is for.

The Hogue's are nice, I had one for a while. I traded it for a Tango Down Battle Grip. Look into those, you might like it.

The Hogue grip is not a slip-on; it's a replacement grip. I use one covered with Agrip. I tried the Hogue free-float tube and found it to be a flimsy p.o.s. DPMS makes a much better tube that's not as expensive as the Hogue.

Thanks for clearing that up Walter. I didn't realize they even made a replacement grip. In that case, I might get that instead of the First.....I like the idea of rubber instead of plastic.
I put a rubber Hogue grip on my Bushmaster and like it a lot.
Does it get rid of the area filled by those Gapper pieces..? Ive read it can blister your hand after a few hundred rounds..? Ill have to look around at pics of the Hogue to see if you can tell....

Best grip I've tried on an AR and I've tried a few. Just can't beat the "stickyness" and ergonomics of a Hogue. Simple to install and inexpensive to boot. I have Hogues on about 5 different guns!
I put Hogue grip on my Colt Sporter Match HBAR and like it plenty. Feels much better than the old A2 grip. JMTCW.....Trapfan

I have a Hogue on my Bushmaster. I love it. It looks and feels so much better than the stock plastic grip. Very much worth the 25 bucks
I have tried just about every AR grip out there except the Tango Down which is newer but I like the Hogue better.

I must be some kind of freak ;f
I just eBayed my Tango Down grip because it wasn't comfortable for me for extended shooting sessions-same story with the Hogue. Most of my shooting buddies swear by either the Hogue or the TD.
My favorite grip by far is a cheapo thin Colt duckbill grip-the one that covers the gap. You can find them for $4.99 HERE (http://store.yahoo.com/cdnn/arductacpisg.html)

Another vote in favor of the Houge grip!

I'd highly recommend that anybody with a Hogue AR grip contact Brooks Tactical and see if you can persuade ol' Brooks to custom-wrap your grip with Agrip! I love mine!
have a hogue on my ar10 feels great!
