The .45 GAP is a smaller-bullet (under 200 grain) .45, shorter and smaller case than "THE .45" (ACP) so it'll fit in a 9mm sized pistol. It isn't a proven round as it just came out. Ammo isn't easy to get either.
The .45 ACP Glocks (G30, G36, and G21) are good, solid pieces. The G30 is similar in size to G19, just a bit thicker. The G36 is slightly thinner. The G21 is like a G17 in size, just thicker.
I love my G30. Carry it every day.
If you already have a G19 and tried 1911s, the design fits your hand different, it takes time to get used to it. Most people find the 1911 "fit" well, the Glocks are the ones they have to get used to. If all you've ever shot is a Glock, of course the 1911's gonna feel odd.

I've learned the hard way to choose a gun that comes to the hand well. I've had two guns that I sold because they just didn't "fit right" . If the Glock 21 fits I highly reccomend it. I know alot of guys at the range that shoot nice 1911's but carry Glock 30's. If you are a fan of the Glock 19 check out the Glock 36. It's almost the same size. I think that the Glock 21 with 14 rounds of 230 grain HP's can't be beat!! But I also carry a 1911 and I have a little 26 (9mm) that gets a lot of pockett time at work. Have fun with your decision.
