these magazines (http://www.ammoman.com/images/SA80.jpg)
Ammoman has them for $15 each. With free shipping, it's hard to pass up. They're steel, which is what I need.
I have a finicky Professional Ordnance AR pistol.
Plastic mags are a no-go. But with steel, I can bend the lips just right to feed like buttah.
It says that the british black followers are the same as green followers.
My local shop has the GI issue preban 30's, for $30 each. They, of course say that the others are junk.
Has anyone used these?
Thoughts?
No personal experience, but my understanding is that they have a good reputation for reliability, but that the steel is hard on the relatively softer aluminum receiver.
I'd probably use them, but I don't shoot my AR enough to worry about wearing out my magazine well of the receiver with thousands of high speed magazine changes. Currently I'm using USGI (flawless) and thermold mags (which I'm less happy with).
USGI mags can be found for 20ish dollars each, easily enough... if you're worried about it I'd say get the USGIs and don't sweat it. The four or five bucks a mag you save is buying you peace of mind.

They say sold out on the site...but e-mail them.they have more onthe way...very good service
The guy's on AR15.com identified my mags that I got at the gun show as RO mags. I haven't used them yet, but they tell me the floorplates on mine are junk. They fit nicely in my recievers.

I paid $42 for the two 30's and one twenty. Let me know how they work for you if you get them. It may be a while before I get to test mine out.

If you want the teflon coated version, check out the link that AZG23 posted.

I'm not too concerned with damaging my receiver, being as it's carbon fiber. While it may scratch, you can drive your car over it and not damage it.
I just can't see paying double the price if these work. Even if I have to shape the lips a little bit.

This will all depend on if you will ever need to stake your life or that of your familys on your rifle...the USGI mags I got were $96.00 for 4 NIW USGI aluminum 30 round mags...shipped to my door, thats only $24 per mag shipped.
Im not saying they wont work..but if they need tweaking, Id keep them for range use.and get a couple good ones for SHTF..
I bought 10 from ammoman for $145, delivered. Have a little over 3000 rounds (all Wolf, stock Armalite) through them without a hitch.
If loaded to full capacity they won't go into my gun with a closed bolt. Some folks modify the catch hole on the mag but I simply load a few less rounds and they work fine then. Or I load from an OB and use the full 30. Your choice.
I bought 15 for $205 from "Rawles" I think, sells on ARF.com. My experience has been the same as tjpet, have to download a round or 2.
