Greetings all.
Just wanted to drop in a quick post. I found the site from the net doing a search after I purchased a G36 ealier in the week. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but thats definetly scheduled for this weekend. Fits my hand very well. Kind of wish it did have a larger clip, but if you can take care of business in 6 shots, you should probably not carry anyways.
Went with the G36 so I can carry when I get my permit (taking the class later in the year). It's not my first purchase, have a Ruger 9mm, S&W 38, Taurus 9mm. But wanted something with some stopping power and heard this was the way to go. Never considered getting a carry permit until this past weekend. Went to visit my gal's parents this weekend and when we showed up, cops were all over the place. Some guy (turned out he was 17) was prowling around their house. Her dad went outside to see what was up and the guy started threatening him and told him that he was going to kill him and my gals mom if they didn't get back into the house. Her dad turned around to tell her mom to call the cops, next thing he knew, he had a switchblade against his throat and this 17 year old saying the was going to slice him and then his wife. He just turned, ran into the house, and a few minutes later, the cops came. The punk was hiding in a ditch. The cops had him at gunpoint telling him if he didn't drop the knife, they would drop him. Thank god for their quick response time and acting like complete professionals.
We showed up right after the arrest. The cops were very nice about everything and said they shouldn't have anything else to worry about. Later that night, the guys "buddies" were hiding across the street yelling obscenities and the like at my gals parents when they went outside, what a bunch of idiots. I just worry for their safety now and realized it might not be a bad idea to have some form of protection for myself and my gal when we are out and about. I'm going to offer to give him one of my 9mm (with transfer of ownership of course), since he doesn't have any handguns, just rifles and shotguns. I dont' think it will be hard to get him to take it off my hand.
Just wanted to say hi to you all. Hopefully I can pick up some stuff here. Been reading a lot about the techniques and such already. I'm pretty decent with the guns I do have, so hopefully it will be an easy move over to the Glock. Ahh and an obligatory pic, just cause my gal was asking about the size difference in my glock and the Ruger p89 I let her shoot when we go to the range.
