Has anyone had their AR refinished by Walter?

I just sent my preban bushy lower and new A3 14.5" M4 upper to him to have refinished in his Black T.

I saw a rifle on AR15.com that was refinished by him and it looked beautiful. I was just wondering if anyone else has used him.

His prices are really reasonable. $210 including return shipping and disassembly/reassembly for a military style rifle and two mags. I called and he talked my ear off. I swear I was on the phone for over 30 minutes. He is a very nice and knowledgable fellow. Very happy to tell you all about his process etc. It was a very nice change to call someone you want to spend money with and have them actually take time to talk to you instead of it seeming like you were bothering them.

I will make sure and post pictures when I get it back. He said the turn around time was around 3 weeks.

I learned a lot of interesting things from him. With me being in adverising I find it really great that they have never advertised whatsoever. He gets all his business from word of mouth. Now if that doesn't say something about what type of business and service he provides nothing will.

Never had any work done by him. But I have read countless good things, and can't recall one bad thing said. Word of mouth is everything these days, with the internet being the main forum for gun talk. Do something half-assed and everyone will know about it. It's not like the old days where you have a bad experience and you tell 3 or 4 people, instead you post a bad experience and thousands see it. A business actually has to fix their problems if they want to keep their head above water. Same for good experiences and good customer service.....people hear about you and come calling.

Can't wait to see the pics.

;) RELAX! An acquaintance, recently, had a H&K MP-5 /w four magazines refinished by Birdsong. Now, it looks brand new; and that black finish is, really, scratch resistent. ^c

Has anyone had their AR refinished by Walter?
I've had my AR-50 coated in Green T. Actually, I only sent the stock portion and the bolt. Soon, I'll send the receiver and barrel.

When I sent my rifle, I'd never seen the coating in person or in pictures. I went by reputation. I'm very happy with the coating. A friend had just bought a HK P7 trade in (purple slide) and wanted to have it refinished. He stopped by to see the AR. The next day he sent his P7 to Mr. Birdsong. I sent my Remington 870 rifled slug barrel with his P7.

I'm now thinking of sending my FN-FAL.

Notice that attention to detail on the 870 barrel. Look at the rifle sights. I didn't know that he would paint the adjustment marks.

Oops. I meant to post the 870 barrel.

Are AR-50's included in the 'Black Rifle' club?
This is my website. Soon, I'll update it. I took lots of pictures of the various parts with Green T on them before it was reassembled.

I would love to shoot that AR50. The 870 looks great. I cannot wait to get my M4 back. I just got everything together and went and shot it to make sure it functioned fine than send it to Walter so I have really only seen my new rifle for one night.

Leonard, I sent you a email.

Thanks,

James

Walters crew has finished quite a few of the duty guns of the guys that I work with and has refinished an m1A and mags as well as a 1911 for me and I have been very happy with his work. He is a very pleasant guy to speak with, but he will keep you on the phone a while.
