over-lethal? I keep reading threads where posters talk about over-penetration as being bad. Hell, I want my hollow points to mushroom big and fast and keep going! I simply don't give any credence to argument that a bullet may pass thorough a bad a guy and hit an innocent bystander, since 1/2 the rounds police fire at bad guys miss altogether and I've never read anything about this actually happening. A bullet may have to penetrate all kinds of stuff before it gets to vital organs. Isn't a 230 grain mushroom that takes out spine on it's way out the back a good thing?

Rounds will overpenetrate. Period. JHPs will reduce the likelihood, but not completely. The only reason NYPD switched from ball to hollowpoints is in about five shootings, ball went right through the badguy and hit someone it wasn't supposed to. JHPs can still do this, but not as much. A arm or leg or graze hit will overpenetrate, JHP or not.
