That is, I don't know where to ask this other then the general forums....thought I'd start here first.

I somehow got the idea to build a custom submachine gun. Ok, I know all of the legal crap says I can't have a gun with a barrel less then 16 inches, but I don't feel like paying the tax stamp (ie, need to budget accordingly for the time being) so 16in barrel it is.

Has anyone had any experience with the 9mm uppers from Rock River Arms? I'd like to get it and other necessary parts and put it on a Bushmaster lower.

If your going to go full-auto it dose not matter what length the barrel is.

Bad idea, the feds frown on you manufacturing your own machine guns.

All he needs is a registered drop in auto sear since the feds consider that the MG. Then he can build the rifle up any way he wants to

Auto sears for any guns are like 15,000 dollars.

I'm just a poor Nebraska farm boy with way to much time on his hands.....

Therefore, it will be semi-auto since (1) the Sheriff won't let me use it on duty, it's for my own collection and (2) I have no need for full auto. If I can't hit the target firing one at a time, I shouldn't be shooting. Finally (3) I also have limited funds.

Sulaco, RDIAS's are going for about $8k-$8500. HK sears are starting to bear $10K price tags. Don't know if they are selling for that though. Last year a RDIAS was selling for about $6k.
