Hello
I went to the range the other day and I had 4 light strikes on the primers of my Blaze ammo. I have slightly over five thousand rounds throught my firearm mostly cci blaze ammo. This is the first time this had happened to me.
I broke down the slide and cleaned it. I have not shot it since. I will see if it needed a good cleaning.
My real question is when shold I change the firing pin spring?
How long do they last?
Do I need to change anything else with it?
Any other info would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you thoroughly cleaned and degreased the striker channel, making sure not to leave any solvent or fluid of any kind in the channel, you should be o.k. Striker springs last for a long, long time.

Vito, please let us know if you still have that problem after cleaning your gun. You didn't say how many rounds you had fired before cleaning the gun. That firing pin channel is especially important to keep clean of anything , including oil.

I have not shot the gun since, to busy at work. I will let you know soon. I had about 1600 to 2000 rounds of Blaze Ammo through it since my last cleaning. What interest me was this was the first time that this every happened to me with my Glocks.

Sometimes people find a small amount of very fine brass shavings in the gun when they are cleaning it, especially in the firing pin channel. I think the cartridge case mouth gets a little scrape on it from the leading lower edge of the slide protrusion below the firing pin hole during the feeding cycle when the round above it is fed into the chamber, as I have seen this on my own brass from my Model 19. These shavings can accumulate near the firing pin hole, inside the channel and possibly act to cushion the force of the firing pin and cause misfires. This is why I suggest cleaning the channel every so often with a q-tip, solvent, or one of the non-greasy sprays (Rusty Duck, etc.). I recall that other members have observed the same thing with their Glocks. When you clean your gun, just notice if there is any shiny "brass dust" in the chamber area or the channel.
I don't personally know about Blazers, but others have commented on the surprising differences among ammo brands in their burning cleanly or making the gun filthy in no time. Based on the number of rounds you fired without cleaning, the gun could be really gunked up, depending on the ammo.

Hello all
I went to the range today and shot 350 rounds. 250 of Winchester white box and 100 of blaze ammo. After cleaning the gun good, I only had one light strike with the winchester ammo. Again, I took the gun home and cleaned the firing pin channel real good, it wasn't dirty.
Can anyone help with info on this problem?
Thanks

If you're absolutely sure that the striker channel's completely clean and dry (it's easy to jam crud into the far end of the channel with a Q-tip), and you're still getting light strikes, the your recoil spring might need replacing. Are the light strikes centered?

Hello
Yes the strikes are centered. Thanks for the info on the recoil spring. I had about 5400 rounds threw my G30 when the problem started. I add 350 today with only one light strike. I will check the recoil spring by testing it.
Thanks

For completely practical reasons, I switched to an extra strength firing pin spring. I had a bunch of the surplus military ball ammo, and it became fairly common to have a light strike every few magazines. Rather than have the hassle of a light strike during practice, I chose to have the slightly heavier trigger pull which gave a more reliable ignition. Good thing I bought a 3-pack because the other G30 owners I shoot with finally had enough and put one it theirs too.

Hello
today I tested my recoil spring by conducting a recoil spring test. The spring worked fine even though I have about 6000 round usage from it.
Thanks
