I was shooting this morning with a prospective client, a dental guru. He's in his 60's and familiar with 1911's, so I let him shoot the 30. He had a little trouble with the 10-round mag pinching his finger between the baseplate and the frame, but did ok with it.
I put him in the 17 and he did much better. He insisted I shoot the 30, and we shot together. Since we were only shooting at 10 yards, I was blowing the center out of the bullseye on my target. My target spots (paste on's) were being blown off the target, in shreds.
He did well, but I love to shoot the 30. BTW, I was using 10-year old Norinco ammo, a box of 10+ year-old Winchester, and whatever else I wanted to use up.
Then my wife shot it.... and liked it.... !!!
