I've been to the Hernando MG shoot about 4 or 5 times.
As far as I know, It has always been on a sunday so I am guessing the site is correct on it being the 29th. I've never heard about it being on the 28th anywhere but this site.
I've never heard about it being a 2 day deal either. It has always been just one day.
It gets pretty crowded so if you want to get a spot on the line, you have to come early.
They usually have them on July 4th also.

BTW, I got an LRM upper coming too.

If it is the 29th, I'll definately be there, wearing a blaze orange Skydive DeLand shirt.
Since they've got a line for 50's, what kind of stuff will there be to shoot at with them.
Hey amphibian, when you get your new upper, whatcha gonna do with that other sweet little 3 lugged upper?

There will be a few cars to shoot at. They catch fire and get all burned up.
At the last shoot, a guy came with an APC with a Minigun mounted on top. He was having problems with it. He did a short burst (that I got on video) then he was tinkering with the thing for a long time. You could hear a short burst every now and then but it looked like he was having some problems. Hopefully he has the bugs worked out this time.
I've got a buddy with a M2 .50 BMG that we brought out one time but he doesn't like to take it as its too much trouble for him. I think he has only shot it 2x. He will probably bring his MG34 since ammo is cheap and its not as bulky. I have another friend that is a C2 that may bring his twin mount MG42 setup. He loves the MG42 so I'm sure he will be bringing at least 1.
I still really like my short 3 lugged setup. LRM's upper is about the smoothest shooting 9mm setup I've ever shot I'm guessing due to the ported barrel. I will probably want to use the LRM setup for SMG competitions.
I'll be the one shooting the setup below....my 7.5" 7.62x39 upper.

Nightwolfe,
No, you don't need to be a member. It is usually $20 to shoot and you get a position on the line if you get there in time. They try to cram a lot of people in there. One time I went, I had to go take a leak and had my buddies watch my stuff. In the 5 minutes I was gone, some guy had setup an M60 in my spot and was throwing brass all over my transferrable M16. Geez, at least put my gun in the case it was on top of.
I really don't enjoy it being all that crowded. I may shoot a little at the beginning when the cars are fresh then there is just too much brass flying around. I stand back for a while when everyone's reloading then shoot some more.
I think it is like $2 or something to watch. Spectators have to step away from the firing line.
99% of the time the guns are all privately owned or by a C2. A few years ago, there was a guy that was renting some guns out but that is usually not the case. I am assuming that they would have to get approval for that with the shoot coordinator so you would be better served contacting them for that.
I don't have that much to shoot but I know for a fact that LRM does have a bunch of toys that he brings and if you provide the ammo, you can shoot it. Off the top of my head, I know he has: Steyr AUG, MP5, 33 or 53 not sure, Krinkov, LRM upper on M16 of course, M16 and a bunch more.
If you plan on just walking up to someone with ammo to shoot their guns, I think you will have to pay the $20 to the club to be a shooter even if you don't have a spot on the line but I could be wrong. I've always gone as a shooter so I'm not sure.

So how early should one get there.
Amphibian, you mentioned that they will have a few cars to shoot at on the 50 line. Do they usually have some smaller steel targets as well. Or will I have to find a clean spot(HaHa) on a car to pick at. I'll be shooting a single shot AMAC. Also, have you ever seen anyone bring their own targets.
I know it's a mg shoot, but have you ever seen anyone bring SBR's / SBS's.
Thanks,
Chris
I live in Hernando (far East side) and have never been to that place.. This sounds like the reason I have been waiting for to go...
Sounds like if it's that crowded, I'll just watch though...
Is there any kinda swap-meet or anything there?

I think the shooting doesn't start till 9am. I've been there like around 8am. I've heard some guys showed up 7:30 but nobody from the club was there and they were all waiting to get in. You need to be there early if you want a spot.

There is no "50 line". It is one big line thats it. You could be shooting a single shot 22lr and be right next to a 50 BMG.
Do they usually have some smaller steel targets as well.
They don't have steel targets other than the cars because if you have shooters with .50 BMG's they would be disposable targets.

I don't recall anyone bringing their own targets. I saw some people setting up some targets like some tannerite but never paid attention if they were staff or shooters. The problem is it is a big free for all. Don't expect to bring "your" targets and people will acknowledge that. "Your" targets will instantly be shared once the line goes hot.
Once the line goes hot, it is chaos. Everyone wants to tear up the cars. Everyone has their sites on them when the line goes hot they let it rip. I think this time I'll stand back and take some video when the line goes hot and all the brass is flying. When people start running out of ammo I'll shoot some.
I have another MG buddy that likes canons and usually brings one. This time he is bringing a homemade bowling ball mortar. Last time he brought his Hotchkiss cannon and told me he was going to shoot through both sides of a car window and his some wooden painted snowman behind it. When the line went hot, he did just that.
You can get a spot on the line with a BB gun I guess. I've seen some people come with semi ak's but that is definitely the minority. Most people on the line have at least 1 MG.
Is there any kinda swap-meet or anything there?
Not really, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I've seen Gunsmoke Enterprises setup a table there.
Sometimes there are a few guys selling ammo too.
I have some videos of the Hernando Shoot but they are all at least 30 something MB and I don't have enough bandwidth to share them all the time. If you really want to see one and you have a broadband connection, send me an email and I'll give you a username and password to login to my server to download one of the videos then delete the account when you are done.

Thanks for the info amphibian.
I was telling a buddy at work today about the shoot. Told him this may just set the hook for good. If it does, it will more than likely be a RDIAS.

I just got my flyer in the mail yesterday.
As usual, it is on a Sunday. I think somebody was confused because they have some military vehicles show or something on the 28th. I think that is how it usually is but I just care about the shoot and it has always been on a sunday.
