What kind of reliability have you folks had with the G30? I've had 3 Glocks, never a malfunction on any of them with factory ammo. Should I expect the same from the G30? Thanks, Don.

Harlequin 02-08-2004, 19:17 Yep. 4eyes 02-08-2004, 19:30 Yep. striderglock 02-08-2004, 20:13 You should expect flawless function from ALL Glocks. 30's do not like semi wad cutters though, other than that it will eat everything. Edmond 02-08-2004, 20:17 I've only put 800 rounds or so through my Glock, not a single problem of any kind.:) kshutt 02-08-2004, 20:42 Originally posted by DonD What kind of reliability have you folks had with the G30? I'm curious what type of failures you've experienced with reloads in your Glocks. DonD 02-08-2004, 20:51 For kshutt, I was having problems with the headspace on a G23 but I should say that I was using a Bar Sto barrel so that I could safely use lead slugs. In spite of taking considerable care, many, many would not chamber. Factory ammo was fine in both the factory and the Bar Sto. Used more stringent procedures than I had with a G27 which swallowed everything. Perhaps apples and oranges. FB ChaZ 02-09-2004, 15:00 The only problem I had with my Glock 30 was that the slide would not lock back when all bullets are used. Found out that that problem occurs when using specific followers in my magazine. Suggest you do a search for my past post in this forum using my nick name and "follower". Otherwise, I had no problem with my G30. I carry it everyday, and I could not even think of replacing it with other guns like Les Baer 1911 or other nice guns... -ChaZ DonD 02-09-2004, 19:21 Well, I went out and bought a G30. I was expecting the grip to feel just like the G21 just shorter. I was very surprised to find that it had an entirely different feel. I really liked it and if it displays typical Glock reliability (that is 100% reliable in my experience), I'll have a real winner here. I just finished my concealed carry class here in NM and came to the conclusion that the two guns I had, one was too large to be convenient, the other had too little capacity. I'll get out to shoot it next Monday. I have some super Federal Tactical LE ammo coming for it, very tough bonded +P 230gr slugs. Another question since I've been away from Glocks for a few months. Is there any good loading tool? I don't need to hear "go to the gym and work out" I do and don't lack strength. This one doesn't want to take 10 rds although it is marked for 10 and I doubt that will change sitting loaded for a week as is usually recommended. Cutting follower legs or dremmeling off some of the metal boss inside the mag tube allows the follower to go down far enough to get the 10th round in. r2kba 02-10-2004, 06:50 100% on my g30 braindead0 02-14-2004, 16:07 Just picked up a G30 (new), had some FTF's with Winchester white box personal protection loads (JHP). Didn't spend the time to really try to figure out what happened, but it fed FMJ's with no problem. Anybody else experience problems with white box JHP's? DonD 02-14-2004, 21:02 I shot my 30 Friday, 145 rds in a cold, windy, nasty day. Blazers and Federal Tactical +P. Flawless. NEAT gun. Don ;f AWMP 02-15-2004, 14:28 I have a glock 30, carried for years and shot all the time, never a problem yet, which I could say that for my 1911s that cost 3 times as much. braindead0 02-15-2004, 16:13 Sounds like perhaps my mags (all new) may need a cleaning.. I've got mag 'grips' on order, so I'll be taking them apart anyway. SMSTRICK 02-16-2004, 11:46 For a very long time I was a 1911 loving, Glock basher. I still love my 1911's. I have modified (to the hilt) Commander, Gov model, Kimber. .....They have all jammed at times and needed some fine tuning in order for me to feel comfortable using them for self defense. ....My G30 , on the other hand, has only a trigger job,( not including cosmetic changes.) I have fired between 800 - 1000 rounds out of my G30 and have had no jamming or malfunction at all with factory ammo. The G30 has fewer parts than a 1911, and is built to take abuse......If I had to rely on any pistol with my life which I presently own, I would take my G30 over my 1911 in a heart beat....I love the 1911's and always will: but,.....the beauty of the Glock 30 is in its simplicity and reliability. It is durable, simple, practical, reliable, dependable and relatively accurate within all practical tactical or self defense uses......I have come to realy appreciate and admire the design of the Glock. MrMurphy 02-17-2004, 11:59 I've had failure to fire from White Box FMJs due to hard primers, so I just don't use that load. The Winchester JHPs work fine, but not FMJs. The FMJs took multiple-strike hits from a 1911's hammer too, so it wasn't just MY gun. Two of the rounds the hammer had to be recocked on the 1911 to whack it again before it finally went off. Lesson learned: I don't shoot White Box FMJ in my G30. It's never had a problem with other rounds. braindead0 02-17-2004, 12:20 Crazy, I've never had problem with the white box FMJ's, either in the G30 (only 50 rounds so far), EAA Witness or any 1911 I've run them in. Weird.. I did find that my mags have the 'too long leg' issue, perhaps I managed to cram 10 rounds in it and cause the bottom few rounds to be sitting funny? All 2 failure to feeds (with Winchester white box JHP's) I had were always with the last two rounds, if I remember correctly... vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
