First off, I'd like to thank all of my fellow Big Dawgs out there for helping me make the decision about picking up the G30 that I was inquiring about in my two other threads. I picked it up today, and the feel of the G30 in my hand was much better as soon as I replaced the mag floor plates with the Pearce ones.
A problem though... I fully loaded the ten rd mags (all three) inserted them, and the mag wouldn't sit flush, and I really had to smack it to get it in (the gun ;f ). When I brought it back to the store (the gun was BARELY used when I bought it) the guy was puzzled, and called his dad at the other store, the resident Glock guy, and the dad said that the springs in the G30's had to "break in" for a little while before they they would sit flush as they should, and to keepo them loaded for a little while to compress the springs a bit. The theory makes sense, but I hope it isn't crap. All three mags function flawlessly while shooting, as the guy test-fired the gun right there.
When the slide is forward, the mag has to be jammed in there to seat and 'click.' When the slide is to the rear, the mag inserts just fine. This happened with the two used mags that came with the gun, and also with a third brand new one of the shelf form the store. With the Pearce extensions, it actually stuck out a bit more than without. Also, one of the mags, when fully loaded, rattles, and sounds a bit like a piggy bank with the rounds banging around the inside.
I'm just hoping that afyer the springs "break in" these problems fix themselves. Remember, the gun fired and functioned fine.
