Going to be a first time buyer, first gun I'll ever own. I've shot a good amount of guns, from Springfield Armory XD-9 and 1911 , G17, G21 and just got done shootin the G30. I like the .45 feel, loved the 1911 but was a bit large.

Well, was thinkin about pickin one up locally at about 515.00-550.0 plus tax. Brother in law said to wait till the Gun Show at the end of the month. What prices am I lookin at hoping to get it for? I'm itchin for this gun. Doesn't have to be new, could be used, but if used what to look for in a used gun? Any help on this would be great

Depends where you are located.

Differs from state to state.

This might help with the used gun part: http://www.glockfaq.com/generalinfo.htm#used

As for price, it can vary quite a bit. I think you should be able to find a new one for $525 or less. Maybe, even a good bit less.

I'd hope less, since the used ones here in the shops are about $475.

I bought my pre-owned but never fired G30 for $450.00 plus tax/fees/etc. from a dealer. I have seen G30's used at gun shows between $400 and $500 bucks. It is hard to find a new one under $500 here in Florida unless you pay cash--then they are more willing to haggle.

I wouldn't pay more than about $400 for a good used G30. But that's just me.

I found the cheapest around here when I bought mine. $560 which included night sights.

I'm located in Houston, the show is on Feb 28-29 Houston TX George R Brown Convention Center.

Again, this is goin to be my first gun, for hobby and home security use, I have no intention to carry the gun as of now. Question, when you purchase a gun, how much do they charge for the background check, not for the CCL, I think that's what it is called? How much do they charge and what do they check? I have no criminal record, only run in with Law Enforcement is Traffic Tickets, and all of them were not moving violation. Any help on this would be great.

So I take it, USED shouldn't pay more than 450.00-475.00, New 500.00-525.00?

Thanks for the help guys, hopefuly able to join this group soon

I just helped budshooter acquire his, and it was $505 plus taxes (don't know just how much it came out to in the end, wasn't there). Mine way back in '98 or '99 was $563 after tax in CA.

$500-530 plus tax would be a decent price for a brand new one around here.

Must be nice, New Mexico is so non-competitive that its not funny. I paid $549 for the only one in town plus tax and that was lower than normal. Don

I paid $500 even for mine about a year ago. (drive out)

There is a gun show at the Pasadena, Tx convention center this week end. You can get some good deals there if you check around. Cost $5 to get in. No parking.

Maybe I'll see you there.

Southeast Alabama. Realistic prices, NIB, run about $500 for standard sights, $520 for factory adjustables, $530 to $550 for night sights. We do have one, soon to be ex, local dealer who is really proud of his stuff - add $100 to previously quoted prices.

MrMurphy's right, it was $505 + tax which came up to $544. I emptied out my pockets, and showed the guy that I only had $540 with me, and would he come down a tiny bit. No dice. Had to drive out to the ATM and get some cash. However, for one of only 2 G30's that I could find at the whole show that day, it was worth a little drive out to the bank machine.

Man79,
No charge for the background check--that's your tax money at work. ;f Here in Austin, new Glock 30's run around $550. I've never seen a used one--people hang onto them. I don't plan to ever sell mine.

From what I gather, based on numerous posts here on GT, Texas has about the lowest prices on Glocks anywhere in the U.S. Check out Bachman's. You should get a G30 under $500 in Texas.

IF you want a G30, just get one at the gun show at the best deal you can make. Why waste a lot of time and energy running around all over the world trying to save $50 or so on a gun purchase? You'll spend that much on ammo on some weekends.
