FFZers,
Assuming that the AWB goes away next year, one thing I've been wanting to do is get a can for my Glock.
I have a 3rd gen 23.
After searching online, I haven't been able to find any for .40 at all.
I've seen plenty for 9mm and .45, but never .40.
Do they even exist? If so, who makes them?
Or am I going to have to buy another Glock in 9mm or .45 if I want a can?
www.gem-tech.com SOS-40. The only one I've found so far. I think there were some others manufactured... but I've not been able to find any of them.

The AWB has nothing to do with suppressors, so that doesn't apply here.
I think Advanced Armament also makes one or two .40 caliber models. Check them out.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that it was illegal for me to put a threaded barrel on my post-ban G23.
Is this not the case?
The AWB only applies to pistols when:
(C) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of--
(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
(ii) a barrel having a threaded muzzle;
(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned;
(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm;
Normal everyday pistols don't have at least 2 of those evil features.

The AWB only applies to semi-auto pistols that take detachable magazines and have at least two of the following evil features:
1. A magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip
2. A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
3. A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned
4. A manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded.
5. Is a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm. (G17/G18 doesn't apply here, FWIW)
As your G23 has no evil features right now, adding a threaded barrel won't make it illegal.
edit: damn, frisco beat me to it while I was writing my note. ;f

Yup, "evil" features are what make shooting firearms fun!

Indeed!
Thank you all for the information.
I'm going to have to start saving up for a new barrel, $200 tax stamp, and can ;f

Just to add, I have an SWR GSG40. .40 SW can. It is 1 of 10 made. Joe at SWR made them for an agency that wanted to suppress a Sig 229 but it turned out that the 229 barrel was too thin. The Glock barrels are thicker and that is what I wanted to suppress anyway.
I have one on my G23.
It has been 100% reliable.

What barrel are you using? KKM?

Yep, KKM.
Basically looks like my pic below but it is a .40 can on my G23 rather than my G19 w/ my 9mm SWR can.
I haven't gotten around to taking pics of the .40 can. It is fatter and longer than the 9mm.

amphibian, have you tried your can with any of the subsonic .40 ammo that is available?
I'm wondering if there would be cycling issues.

I haven't had it that long so I have only put my reloads and CCI Lawman 180 grain through it.
My reloads are 180 too.
They have all been flawless.
