View Full Version : Why is my G30 so accurate?
Went out to the range today and shot from 5, 15 and 20 yards with consistent 3-4" groupings.
Damn I love my 30!:)

G30's just seem to be incredibly accurate by design. Maybe it's the dual recoil system.
I'd like to hear the Glock engineers' take on what seems to set the Glock 30 apart from the others in terms of its superb shooting characteristics.
The double captured recoil spring assembly itself is not unique to the '30, the sub-compacts also use it. But something tells me the combination of this special recoil design and the .45 ACP round is an optimal one.
I researched the 30 and some other 45's before buying a 30. One article in one of the shooting mags or may have been in a Glock publication said that it was so accurate because of the 6 riflings in the barrel and that it was disigned so that the barrel did NOT unlock before the bullet had exited the barrel. Never did like the thought of the barrel moving up before the bullet was out of it. Bought a 30 and the first 3 shot group at 25 yds from a good rest was less than 1 inch all overlapping at point of aim. Shot carry load ammo, Black T's. Was I happy or what? After several K through it it will still do less than 2 inch group from a rest...if I take my time and use fairly hot ammo.

Glock .45's use octagonal, not hexagonal rifling.

Oops, brain squib. Happens when you get old. Has more than the 17 etc. Think the 36 has 8. What does the 37 have?

Good to hear that you are liking your Dawg. Mine is just as accurate as my full size 21. Hell of a pistol, and makes a fine CC gun as well.;c

In my opinionon the accuracy of the G30 is due to the wider grip which in turn positions your finger on the trigger exactly where it belongs.

Not only are they extremely accurate they are very easy to shoot accurately. I don't know if it's the low bore axis, the quick trigger reset, blah, blah, blah. They just seem to put the bullets where you want them to go and come back on target very fast. Everything just seems to come together right with this gun.
