Just curious about how many ladies are actually on this site. I signed up a while ago, but forgot I had a s/n here.

Well, I'm GunGirrl from Pell City, Alabama. Wife to G21FAN. I will be 23 in April. No kids yet, but we do have a very spoiled dog. I am a Indepentant Consultant for Passion Parties, Inc.

That's just a lil 'bout me.

Hiya Ladies! Well, I am very anxiously awaiting getting my Glock 23 of layaway. I did have a Glock 26 but sold it. But, I'm not picky.. I'll shoot any glock. ;)

Me! I'm here too. I'll shoot just about anything that goes bang... favorite handguns are 1911's in .45 and GP-100 .357, for revolver. Rifles? the list is too long! Shotguns, well, I just got a new 28" VR barrel for my 870, so I hope to get into some skeet later this year after #3 is born.

Hey, any GT women or Dallas area GT DIVAS going to the DIVAS shoot at Backwoods Traps on the 27th (I think)? I'm hoping to go--they look like a fun bunch, at least for shotgunning.

Hi! I'm one of the gals, I like a good discussion, and I am a new mom! I have a two month old girl. I have a husband and two brothers on this site, and they got me hooked (on guns and the website). I take pictures of everything, and am a scrapbooking queen. I'm 23, and have been shooting guns with the guys since I was 10, but I'm still a girly girl.

Hey ladies...I'm new to GT and am new to the whole culture.. My BF got me started in on this whole thing, and now I'm ready to rock. Any advice on the best way to start my OWN collection? Don't have a big income, but am looking for a good Glock. Any suggestions? I really like the BF's Glock, but can't remember which one it is....

Boy, this is all so confusing....;g

Hey wildfyre,

As many will probably tell you, try out a firearm first before you decide on what you want. If you like your BF's glock, find out what that one is and get one like it. The next time you go to a range that rents, try some more out and as your income allows, add to your collection that way!

Welcome to GT - it's a good place to be.

Hello all.

Looks like we are a small group. I like being able to give the guys a different point of view once in a while. I don't post much but I learn a lot.

I shoot a G21 left-handed and G36 right-handed. I holster them that way though I don't carry the G21 much. I shoot them both at IDPA, not on the same night, of course.

Glock on, y'all!

I carry a new 23 also. First Glock in ages-the other one was ex-hubby's first-generation model 19, waaay back in the day. I'm a former police officer and probation officer, and current state prosecutor. Just started posting here a few days ago.

I'm one of the gals too. Mostly I shoot a 1911, but I shoot my boyfriend's Glocks as well. Need to learn to shoot the revolvers better. I like the ARs and shotguns too. :D I shoot IDPA, have been since 2001, I'm an IDPA safety officer and have worked the last 2 National Championships. I've also worked the last 2 GSSF matches in our area (held at Topton, PA) - this year I'm actually going to shoot it! ;)

Take care and stay safe.

Hi everyone,
I come to this site just about every day. I was bitten by the "gun bug" last summer when an engineer at work invited me to a "gun party" at his house out in the country. So far I have a G17 and a Romanian WASR 10.I've learned an awful lot here too!

I'm a relatively new (and infrequent) poster here on Glock Talk, living in the People's Republic of Massachusetts :) , wife of RugerFan, we both have model 23's, but he's got lots more, I only have the one. I'm in the market for a better personal carry gun, more concealable, when I find it I'll find the money! ;f

Oh, yea, I'm a mom, two boys 19 and 23, married to my second and best (and last!!!) husband.

Well, guess I'll have to introduce myself. There seem to be such neat ladies here -- I'm honored to be a part of this group.

I'm a transplant to Texas from N.Y. -- as they say, I got here as fast as I could. I absolutely love Tx. I lived in N.Y. my entire life, really loved Long Island -- it's pretty, great fishing, nice people.

Texas is different. Just driving through the countryside brings a smile to my lips. The people here are great --- My only worry is that too many other people will discover it (like I did) and try to turn it into another California. I really hope not.

Thanks for the welcome.

Well I've been a GT member for a zillion years but stopped posting here since I sold all my Glocks....GASP!!! But I do shoot a friend's G34 sometimes so I still like to come over to visit:D

Currently shooting HK, SIG, Sphinx, Colt, S&W 952-2. Picked up a fun little Beretta Storm 9mm carbine also. I recently downsized my collection by 50% but still have enough for a little variety.

I have the gun bug something awful. Guns, computers, and golf keep me broke all the time it seems (but there's always room in my safe for just ONE more)!!!

Guess that's it....in fact I'm outta here for 4 days of golf down near Austin, TX......will check back when I get home!!!

Hi, I finally got this registration thing figured out. I've been looking at GT awhile (my hubby post quite often) so I finally decided to regisgter myself. My favorite gun to shoot is my 1911 but I carry a G27 in my Coronado Purse. I would like to find a way to carry on my body but I am short and a little round so I don't have much of a hip to carry on or the cloths to wear. . . My husband don't like to shoot w/ me because I usually out shoot him so most of the time I have to go alone if I practice/play. I also like to shoot when someones or something has made me mad, it helps vent my anger in a safe place.
I'm 23 and have been married 5 years w/ 000 Kids and no plan to have any, anytime soon. I live in Central Oklahoma and work for my uncle at his sporting goods shot so I always have first pick of the handguns we trade for :)
P.S. please forgive spelling/grammer erros, that isn't my strong suit!!!;)

I've been here on GT for a few years now, although as of late, I've been very busy and using my time in other ways. :)

I only own five guns at the moment. Four handguns and one break action shotgun. I hope to get a pump action shotgun very soon though!

You know, I am so relaxed after a range trip. Women shoot free at my range on Wed, so every Wed, I pop off about 150 rounds through my G19, and new/used G17, then I come home and clean them, I just feel "right" the rest of the week. I hope y'all know what I am talking about!!

I just love to shoot. April IS the cruelest month --- esp. with tax-time coming up.

Yesterday I went out and shot some .40's through my G27, a few 9's from my G26 and a whole lot of same from MY new/old G17.

The 17 is a factory recnditioned older pistol. It has one pin on the receiver -- the newer ones have two.

I've been reading about "feeding" problems, so I mixed some JHP's and FMJs -- Winchester, Speer, Federal in all three -- not one problem.

Maybe it's that I'm not "smart" enough to totally mess up my pistol ---- I just go shoot, clean it every time, and have fun.

I really do love to shoot.

My husband is Jack T.
Thankfully I don't have to go to a "range" we own some land out side of town we hope to build on someday and my husband has our own little "range" set up. The only bad thing about that is trying to find the brass when he hasn't mowed the grass;f I'm also very glad I don't have to clean my own guns, I'd probably never get it put back together right. Jack T. and I have this arrangement, If I clean and cut up his deer (and mine too) he'll clean all the guns. Thankfully he didn't kill to many deer this year and I got the good end of the stick because I shoot quite a bit!:)

With everyone talking about what they shoot and their ammo and stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that!), it's starting to feel like General Glocking in here;) .

I'm going to "re-girl-ify" the thread by mentioning how excited I am because I have lost 5 more pounds since having my baby^c , and I just bought some pretty eyeshadow from my Mary Kay lady. Woo hoo!

I just got back from a Pilates lesson. If you want to get your abs back, and make your back stop aching, and just generally firm everything up without feeling like you're killing yourself, I strongly suggest that you find a Pilates class somewhere. I'm 48, and lived with a bad lower lumbar backache for far too long. 4 years ago my chiropractor sent me out to fine a class, and I've never been back to him. It's a great way to get that belly back from having a baby! I'm sorry to sound like an infomertial for Pilates, it's just that I love it so much I wanted to share it with you all.

I love it so much I became certified to teach....but I don't like to teach, I like to learn! ;f

Reinbeau, thanks for sharing that! I've been wondering what to do with myself after my little guy is born - after 7 pregnancies, my body is sorely out of shape! I've been seriously considering Pilates. Seeing you posting about it today is another plus in my column to try it!

I've been thinking about that Pilates stuff for ages but haven't had the get-up-n-go to go get in a class.

Manage to get to the range once in awhile, tho. ;f Amazing what a few .40s downrange will do to improve one's disposition.

Love that Mary Kay stuff too. It's usually a little out of my league, price-wise and I don't wear eye makeup at work...and I spend my extra "girl-stuff" cash on Chanel No. 19 perfume  anyway.... :)

Hey, Cat, thanks. It's a .357 that shoots .38. i haven't shot it yet as I'm awaiting the birth of our 6th and last baby! I had my eyes on a 65LS for a while and when we went to a gun show last month we saw it there for $450 but my hubby talked him down to $400. I love the way she feels and looks and cannot wait to shoot her. I shot hubby's M19 which is the same frame size, just a little bit longer barrel with .38 and that was good so I'm not expecting much difference when I go out to shoot the 65LS.

For anyone who didn't know - almost all .357s shoot .38s which makes them great guns for carry. Practice and play with the less expensive .38 and carry with .357!

Yoga is what I do;f Much better for me personally and I have the inclination to actually do it so that is a big plus! Not to argue, but you had a bad teacher. Luckily I'm in an area where we have some very well educated, experienced teachers. I can't imagine 'almost killing myself'!

Pilates owes a lot to yoga, Joseph Pilates took yoga and rehabilitative exercises and created what he called 'Contrology'. He first used it in hospitals to rehabilitate soldiers who had been injured in battle. If they couldn't use their legs, they could use their arms, and Joseph set up pulleys and bars to help people get their strength back.

Pilates should in no way cause injury. I've seen some extremely bad classes where the 'instructor' tries to turn Pilates into a strength/aerobic exercise. It isn't that at all. If you can only do one movement with control, then that's all you should do. If it hurts your neck, put your head down. If it hurts your back, put your feet down. I really don't like to hear that someone has had an experience like yours!

I do like Yoga, too, as we get older we need to keep up our flexibility, and (my teacher would hate to hear this!!) while Pilates is about lenghening and opposition of movement, I get a better stretch from Yoga. What Yoga wouldn't do for me was rebuild my core, my abs and lower back. That took 4 years of Pilates.

Doesn't matter, ultimately, as long as you do something.

I joined GT last summer, and have been an addict since. It just so happens that I met my fiance one month after I joined GT, and he is a police officer! We enjoy "Cop Talk," but have a few other favorite areas as well. Obviously I am from Texas, but unfortunately I am too young to carry. In the meantime, OC spray must suffice. I'm a college student going to school for a career in education, but I'm highly interested in guns and law enforcement. Nice to meet y'all-- see you around GT!

It might recoil a bit more 'cos of the shorter barrel. But maybe not so much.

I used to carry a Colt Python .357 back when I was a probation officer. Had a Trooper when I was in college, too-a retired Virginia state police revolver. Great guns. Heavy, but great. I thought about going with the .357 S&W revolvers, and got a 642 Centennial .38+P, and absolutely hated it-trigger pull way too long. The Colt was real snappy, had a real light fast pull almost like a Glock automatic. In comparison the J frame Smith was heavy and the hammer didn't fall when it felt like it should, though the cylinder had rotated. You had to pull the rigger a little further. If I'd got in a scrape I'd have had a FTF and been in deep kimchee.

Weird, that. When I was a kid Dad had a Smith model 36 that was just about perfect. Serves me right for going with Colts for so long ;Q !

Dunno how I ended up with the Glock 23. It just sorta *happened*. I work chasing thugs and drugs for our local D.A. equivalent and 'cos of that hubby put his foot down and demanded that I start packing heat again after about four years of not, thanks to law school and selling my Python at the beginning of that. So I started out with the Smith 642 and just hated it. Hubby went to the range with me and tried it and after one five round cylinder he slammed it down and said "Hell no. You need something better. Let's go trade it right now." Soooo...we swapped it for a slightly pre-loved Steyr M-9 our range guy was trying to sell.

I loved it! It drives nails!

Unfortunately, it suffers from two problems. One, I can't seem to get law enforcement hi-cap magazines for it. Two, and more important-hubby liked it better ;P and so I was looking for another gun!

My friends in local law enforcement were basically unanimous that 9mm isn't nasty enough and the personal defense of their favorite local hardass prosecutor requires sterner stuff ;) . The .40 S&W-standard carry for the largest P.D. in our jurisdiction-was cited as something to look at. Interesting that our sheriff issues 9mm S&W pistols that the deputies think are way too weak for the job-they're agitiating for a switch to .40 as well and some have in fact gone to it-I beleive they have the option.

This was leading inevitably in two directions-either a Steyr M or S-40 (no one around here sells them and I wanna shoot before I buy if possible) or a Glock 22 (issued by said local PD) or 23 (preferred for its size). I went with the 23 because I had fired EX-hubby's Glock 19 and liked it years ago, and I tried a range-owned 23 and liked it. Still thinking about an S-40 if I can find one in good shape. Maybe. Or maybe not. ;f

You're on Baby No. 6 ;P Whoa! That's extreme. Respect, mama. Max respect. I'm stepmoming two teenagers and it's been an education...I went from single gal to step-mom to pre-teens basically overnight and my eyes were opened, believe me.

Well, I hand out respect to you, too! I cannot imagine starting out with pre-teens! At least in my case I get to mold them from the time they are born!

Thanks for the story about your guns. Very interesting! Hubby started off with a Glock, although I'm not sure how. Actually, I think he first fired a rifle. I'm sure I'll get corrected on that later ;) . But he has slowly acquired an addiction for S&W revolvers. That's probably why it was so easy to get the LS!

I can't wait until I get more time with the glock, though.

Crochetmama,

When is baby #6 due?

How in the world do you keep up with that many children?

I babysat a few weeks ago for seven little ones-the oldest was 12 but the other six were between seven and eighteen months. I don't see how there mommy does it.....I considered my day to be a success to have each head still accounted for at the end of the day!

I babysat a few weeks ago for seven little ones-the oldest was 12 but the other six were between seven and eighteen months. I don't see how there mommy does it.....I considered my day to be a success to have each head still accounted for at the end of the day!

Hey Miss Kitty,

#6 (Logan Scott) due date is next Tuesday but my midwife says any day now.;f

My oldest girls are 10 and almost 9. They are little mommies and a great help. I've implemented jobs for each of them to do. Even Kenaniah, the 20 month old, loves to help sweep and wipe down kitchen counters! I also keep the paddle close by - but, shhhh, don't tell them liberals, I may get cited for child abuse!

There are times I wonder how I'll make it through my day but I always do and I have a great hubby that comes home to us every night. The kids adore him and he adores them. Love and discipline and love! Not an easy job but worth every laugh and every tear!

Next Tuesday? You two are in my prayers and my fingers are crossed too!

Wow, six little ones. It just amazes me!!!

Paddle away. I won't tell. Actually, that is what this country needs-more mommies not afraid to discipline a child if they need it. Lord knows I had my butt whacked plenty of times and turned out ok;)

Crochetmama, you have a midwife? That's great! I wanted to try my delivery with a midwife and go natural, but insurance, etc, I wound up with an OBGYN, but that's fine. I still planned on going natural. Two days after my due date, the baby stll hadn't dropped, and I still hadn't dilated at all. I had a fetal assessment done, and they determined that my fluid was extremely low. Doc said, "Baby has to come out today. With no fluid, I'm amazed she isn't in any distress yet." But, with no dilation, I had the option of a drug to open me up, or a c-section. Success rate with the drug was only 50% and takes 12 hours to complete, and if it didn't work then I'd have to have an emergency c-section anyway. I was so upset with my options, I cried for 20 minutes before my husband helped me to decide. His reasoning was, "think of the baby, of this baby, not of possible future babies. I don't want to see you try something, and have it not work, or have the baby go into distress while we wait for the drug to work, and what if it doesn't? There's too much risk there." So we chose scheduled c-section. After 4 hours, I went into surgery, and during it, my doc said, "Wow, it's a good thing you chose this way. Your uterus is misshapen, and so narrow near the cervix, she never would have dropped, and you would not have been able to push her out." So, I will have to have c-section for all my future babies. We wanted 5 or 6, so I'll have the "baby zipper" across my lower stomach. I feel so cheated and jealous of anyone who gets to deliver naturally. I'll never get that opportunity. But, on the bright side, at least I can have children:) . You are amazing for having a midwife, AND for having 6! Crochetmama, I salute you.
P.S. Haven't had to use it yet (my 1st is only 3 months), but I have a paddle, too. I think all moms should have one. My mom did.

Marzipan,

I'm planning on having an epidural. I know what the pain is like after that many and I love the invention of drugs! I belong to an OB group with about 5-6 docs and 2 midwives. I'm seeing the same 2 as my last delivery and they are so much more personal.

I have never had to have a c-section and hope that this last one I will not need one either. But I do know of someone who went through hours and hours and hours of labor only to have a C-Section. I think the doc screwed up somewhere. I think that given your two options, I would have chosen the C-Section as well. Maybe not with #s 1-3, but after hearing stories I would not want to go through hours of labor only to end up with a C-Sections anyway.

:)

I wanted the zipper, too, but settled on only having two kids (with the husband I had, you'd see why, also ;P ). I have very narrow hips, I'm built like a little boy, and little boys can't have babies, either! The first c-section was an emergency (despite my telling my doctors for 9 months that I'd never be able to deliver naturally, I was in transitional labor for 14 hours and damned near died), the second one was scheduled. I too am envious of women who can deliver naturally, after all I went through without medication I know I could have done it all the way if I'd only had breeder hips! :) Oh well, the point is to have a healthy baby, and I did, twice, such a very long time ago ;a

They're both boys, 19 and 23 years old now!

Hi, I'm Kris. I just got a chance to revisit GT after having stumbled across it a few months ago (probably longer - time has a way of sneaking by, doesn't it?).

Let's see, I've been shooting for about a year now -- after nearly a year of waiting for my permit! First thing I did was run out and buy a G19! I've since added a G27. Meanwhile, my BF shoots a Beretta 92 and "Santa" brought him a G22. It's about time he came over to the dark side. ;)

My baby boy is going to be 16 in August -- he's about 4 inches taller than I am, outweighs me by about 50 pounds, and he's a better shot with a shotgun than I am. ;P

So I plan to visit a bit more regularly -- I hope! It's great to see a bunch of ladies here on the ladies' forum!

BTW, you do beautiful crochet work. I used to do some lacy things -- a couple of doilies, edging for stuff, but it seems that I don't have time for anything anymore! Except shooting, and even that's a challenge sometimes! ;1

However, I do have a lovely doily in the works -- it's been about half-done for about a year now! I do plan to get back to it soon, though. You have inspired me. :)

Yeah, welcome Kris! Now you gotta go out & try a "real pistol" ;) , a fullsized 1911! ;f I bet you'll love it! Seriously, I can't find a Glock to fit my hands well, and I ended up shifting form a SIG P226, to only 1911's, and they are fantastic! Easy to conceal (legal CHL here)a multitude of configurations to choose from, nearly infinite possibilities to customize, and all in nice argument-stopping caliber. Between my husband & I, we have pretty much every available barrel length 1911 (3",3.5",4", and 5") For carry I prefer the 3" Kimber Ultra CDP. Fine on recoil despite small size & light weight, and a one-holer out to 10yds. For stuff lke IDPA or general paperpunching I take a 4 or 5" out.

I just hope you make it to the hospital in time!;)

well doggone!!!

How did *I* miss this thread............?????

I just recently started shooting at the range.....I am shooting and love a .22 Kimber Semi Auto.....(I have been twice as of this writing)

I expect to move up to larger calibers later on.......

I shot Blasto's G-19 and GeorgeATL's Keltec 32 and both of those kind of scared me a little with their kick.......

I have my carry permit from Georgia.....filed on December 30th 2003, and got my permit the middle of March 2004. That's when I started getting busy shooting and going to the range.

It's so cool to see so many gals on the board!!!

i'll jump in here.

hi GunGirrl! i've been a member for about a year and half. i have a glock 26 and a bersa thunder 380 (which i really don't like). my hubby has a springfield xd40, a 17 hmr rifle, and we "both" own a ruger mark 2 .22 pistol.

life has taken some crazy turns these last several months so i haven't been spending much time here. i'm married to fade2black and while he's the one who introduced me to glocktalk, he doesn't post here too much.

i have 2 boys: 12 (he will be 12 on 10/1) and 4. i had a midwife for the first and an o.b. for the second and had the epidural for both. no natural childbirth for me! ;)

crochetmama, i guess i've been away for so long i didn't realize you were having another baby! congrats to you and your hubby!

i tried pilates but i didn't care for it too much. i bought those winsor pilates dvds several years ago and after about 3 weeks, i was ready to sell them on ebay. i've never tried a pilates class, though. maybe that would be different. i prefer kickboxing which i take 2x a week at my gym plus i weight train 3x a week and ya know what?? i STILL can't get my "pre-baby" body back. oh well. at least i try, right?! ;f

glad to see so many ladies on the board. :)

Hey all - I'm so new I haven't even registered on my own yet. My husband has been on GT a while though...

He's to blame for my love of fire arms. ;z

Anyway, I have 2 boys now both under 3yo - what do you all do with your kiddos when you and your husband go out and shoot? We don't have family around and I am not a big fan of leaving them with strangers. eventually we hope to take them with us, but they aren't even bigger than the bullet yet!

So again:

we just started leaving our 12 year old son home with our 4 year old son this summer so it's a lot easier for us to get to the range now. before that, however, it was difficult for us to go together, even though we have family here. a couple of times my sister would watch the kids but most of the time my husband would just go and i'd stay home (i wasn't comfortable going to the range alone) or if we had "date night" planned, we'd include a trip to the range as part of it.

wouldn't it be great if ranges had child care?!!? :)

We do the same thing, although we have managed to find a sitter who does wel with our 3 little ones.

And YES! It would be divine if ranges had safe childcare!

CHildcare at the range???!!!

I coordinate Childcare for our church and my husband and I have kicked around the idea of opening a range "some day" in our area...

Maybe we'll have to look into including childcare. WE've already decided it would have a cafe bar. (Starbucks is all the rage in this neck of the woods.)

What would you call a Range with Childcare???
Or what about the childcare in the range...

LIttle house on the prairie... Home IN the range...

Vic303

I think I'd call the child care area, "The Hole in the Wall Gang" myself...

As for a cafe/bar, the concern I'd have, is how to encourage customers to WASH HANDS before eating anything. Otherwise you could potentially be opening up yourself to a lead-contamination lawsuit.

Jaegergirl
09-26-2005, 12:42
"hole in the wall gang" sounds good to me. ;f

i supposed having a child care facility within the range could get ugly when it comes to trying to get the state to approve it, but it would be nice if a range and nearby daycare could work together and the daycare offer sitting services for range members? in my particular situation, there is a child care facility on the same street as the range, just a block away (you could walk to it literally in less than 30 seconds). i guess the childcare facility would be opening itself up to some serious liability though if parents are dropping of their kids while carrying their range bags with them (unless they left their stuff in the cars when the picked up/dropped off their kids). maybe in a "perfect" world it would work, but not in today's society i'm afraid.
