Hello all!

A former instructor of mine wants me to right seat on a part 91 trip to Pittsburgh in a Cheyenne IIIA. I am an HP-endorsed mutli pilot. Can I log PIC as a PF? I know there's a difference between PIC and "acting PIC," insurance-wise. Any insight? I'm assuming that I can't (I'll go for the experience nonetheless), but would love some feedback...

Well, I haven't looked at this for a long time, but the regs used to say that you can log PIC anytime you are "sole manipulator of the controls" in an aircraft for which you are rated. If this aircraft doesn't require a type rating, I'd say you can log any of the PF time as PIC.

It should be covered in FAR part 61.

If the guy is a CFI-Multi, you should be able to log 100% of it as Dual, even if you are in the right seat. Also, if one of you flys under the hood you could both log time; driver as PIC, safety pilot as SIC/required crew memeber.
