I didnt really want to post this until after I got my starline brass and started getting some hands on experience with the whole idea,

but - oh well heck, I'm not good at keeping secrets.

heres a quickload of various powders with a 255 lswc

http://home.comcast.net/~davidawilson/Downloads/45GAP_LoadAnalysis.pdf

(ps - thanks again m27david for running this for me!)

I'm looking at pushing 255 lswc's at 500 fps (125 pf) and 650 fps (165 pf)

Heres a pic of a 255 grain lswc loaded in a gap case to the crimping groove,

a pic of that cartridge in the mag,

and a pic of it in the gun

dummy rounds that I have assembled so far seem to feed into the chamber well enough

I hope everyone has a great weekend,

Mine just started

one big question / concern I have is bullet stability (at such low speeds)

My previous experience with light loaded 255's in a 45 acp case (in a SW 625) were somewhat mixed.... but good enough to prompt me to try this with the gap

The gap has the same 16 inch twist as the G21 bbl - right?

can anyone educamate me on bullet length / rate of twist / muzzle vel. (greenhill)?

April 16th test data

-6 rounds fired (I only have 6 pieces of brass total :) )
-no malfunctions
-very soft shooting
-quiet,
-a few unburnt grains in the chamber
(remember though it was only 6 rounds - this could be problematic if shooting hundreds of rounds)
-no velocity numbers
-appears to shoot approximately to point of aim
-appears to shoot better groups than I am able to hold

speer 45 gap once fired cases
winchester small primers
lightning bullets 255 lswc's
accurate #5 - 4.8 grains (0.3 cc lee dipper)

your results may vary

Interesting. Should work as long as the bullet doesn't seat deep enough to bulge the gap case and the right powder is used.

I've never had good luck shooting SWC bullets in a Glock. Keep me informed how that goes.

take care

the speer gap brass appears to take all of that 255 with no visible bulging

unlike a good many of my acp cases that I did this with a couple of years ago

the pic isnt really the greatest, but...
