Does anyone have experience with these machines? I have not been able to examine one in person, but the information I have collected so far indicates they are very well built, very accurate for an AK and very reliable. It took me awhile to get over the possibility of having blonde wood furniture, but then again neither does my Glock.
Also, what is a decent price NIB? I saw one for 525 and I wonder if I should jump on it.

I have the Robinson Armament VEPR II, which is very accurate and precise for a rifle of this type (AK). Heavier than some of the standard AKs, but sturdier too. See http://www.robarm.com
You're not limited to blonde wood, or wood furniture of any kind, and mine is black polymer. (Avoid those nasty thumbhole wood stocks!) $525 sounds like a good price.
They are a very high quality built AK (often referred as "the HK of the AK's"), and are very accurate with decent ammo. They are more heavy on the muzzle end then your typical AK (due to a thicker barrel and receiver), but it just makes the gun more controllable, especially when rapid firing in the 7.62 caliber. As far as reliabilty, I have not had a single malfunction of any type in my VEPR based AK, using cheap Wolf ammunition.
$525 is a decent price. Availabilty of these guns is sporadic, and I believe that Robarms is the sole importer of these guns. Get it!!
sportingarms sells them under 500.

I have a VEPR K in 7.62x39 and love it to peices, remember this is an RPK reciever in an AK platform. Very heavy compared to average AKs. BTW Robison Armament is a very reptuable company!

I have had three different AK's;SAR-1,Norinco and now a Vepr. Now I only own the Vepr K in 7.62x39, true the Vepr is really a chopped RPK. Including others that I have shot this is by far the best of them all. So far I've fired about 5,000 rounds with never a malfunction.

My experience echos the others here.
I have three VEPRs.
My favorite is my basic VEPR II 7.62x39mm with a Kobra red dot scope.
The fit and finish is by far the best I've seen on any AK platform rifle, and the internals are extremely robust. You can easily verify this by popping open the dustcover on a VEPR and, say, a ROMAK, and peeking inside. Everything is very heavy gauge on the VEPR by comparison.
The milled Bulgarian (Arsenal) and Polish AKs are good, too, but I like having a stamped but extremely rigid RPK receiver, and believe it provides for a more accurate rifle than a typical AK. I very respectable groups at distance.
In short, $525 is a decent price for a VEPR, and you will not find a more durable, quality and accurate AK variant IMO.
I have thought very seriously about springing for a Krebs custom VEPR, but I have a hard time crossing the $900 hurdle for an AK based rifle, no matter how good. It seems antithetic to the whole idea of an AK.
