Recently, I installed a Blackjack buffer in my SAR 1. The buffer really does make shooting the rifle more pleasant because of the reduced recoil. Previously, there would be a bruise on my shoulder the day after my range time. With the buffer, no more bruising. To me the more pleasant the shooting experience, the longer the range session will be.
If you think you might be interested in the buffers, more info can be found at: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/buff2.htm
I have also been using Blackjack buffers in my VEPR with excellent results. In addition to what was said, they also make the gun noticeably quieter when firing (eliminates the mettalic hammering sound) since the bolt carrier doesn't batter the receiver anymore. I'm currently using the standard green one that is holding up real well, but I also have the harder black one that I will be trying out in the near future. I've heard that some people have had problems with the bolt cycling with other brands of buffers, but not Blackjack's, since theirs are thinner.
Highly recommended.^c

I have one from these guys:

It works great! Night and Day difference in recoil and also the noise when the bolt cycles. Worth every penny.
