View Full Version : Refinish S9 Slide?
I owned a Glock 34 previously, that TR Graham (local infamous Glock Armorer) serviced. He removed the black finish on the slide (for a very nominal cost,in less than 30 minutes)leaving a "silver" finish, similar to a matte hardchrome look.Is this process potentially available for the Steyr also? (Unfortunately Mr. Graham has moved, and I am unable to locate him.)
Thanks

Tracer,
I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Well, almost not. Due to my wife's poor health, I moved to Indiana so she could be closer to her family. (For my part, I wish I was back home in TEXAS....I'm stuck up here with a bunch of yankees...<G>)
I can be reached at (317) 430-3640 or email me at Grhm458@cs.com.
Now, about your slide.....I would recommend that you have it hard chromed or electroless nickled. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think that the slide/barrel on the Steyr pistol is Tennifer heat treated like the Glock.
Slide
The slide is super hardened with a tennifer finish, similar to the Glocks, and then a dull blackened finish is applied. The grasping grooves are well spaced, giving the shooter a comfortable contact when operating the slide. When you rack the slide, it is quite smooth.
Just found this from a Handguns M Series test.
