I'm looking to get either an M9 or an S9 in the next month. I'm leaning towards the S9 to be able to carry and plink with. Now I've read about using M40 mags in an M9 as hi-caps until we can legally get some hi-caps. Do you need to modify the feedlips at all? Do they work well? Would the S40 mags then work in an S9? Thanks for any answers to these questions, I found this forum last week and I hope to make some meaningful contributions to it in the future. Thanks.

all that needs to be done is to adjust the lips of the mag closer together (as close as they are on the m9 mags). i think people use hammers? i don't know exactly how this is done.;g

maybe try to find a L shaped sterdy metal block and and place the mag against it with the lips pointed downward and mag at a 45 degree angle with the joint of the L block and hammer the butt of the mag?

this make any sense?

I modified one of my .40 mags to shoot 9mm. First off you need a good vise to hold the mag. I also used a caliper to take measurements how much I was moving it, but that is just cause I am kind of anal. I would put a 9mm mag and a .40 both in the vise then you can compare the two mags. Get a really good hammer and start tapping. I used a brass hammer because it didn't seem to effect the finish of the mags quite as much. Give both sides of the mag lips a good tap and stop to measure to see where you are at. When I modified mine I did bring the lips of the mag as close together as the 9mm mag. I split the difference so that the .40 mag would still reliable feed the .40 ammo. My .40 mag has fed both caliber 100% with no problem ever. I am looking forward to this Sept when we can buy standard capacity mags again. 14 rounds of 9mm is going to be really sweet.
