Will the M40 use any other mags? Or are they unique to the Steyr?
I send my M40 for an upgrade and I put the mags aside and now I am not sure where I put them.

Just how good are you with a file? --- Try the S&W Sigmas. You will need to cut a new slot for the mag release. Oh, and you can find prebans. (and in the opinion of a judge, since the resulting two slot magazine will still work in a Sigma, you're good to go!) ;F

Yep - these work once you cut the mag catch slot. I used a scribe & a small benchtop mill on the Sigma mags. They fit like they were made for the Steyr & unlike the rest of the Sigma, these mags are VERY nice! Coated srpings, polished stainless steel, slick followers (orange in .40 & white in 9mm)witness holes, etc. Well built & reliable.
They have a larger floorplate that sticks out & looks a little odd in the Steyr; plus you will have to take about 20 thou. off with a little sanding to get them to seat. I have 3 S&W highcaps for the M40 & 1 for the M9.

Do you guys have a good cheap source for the Sigma mags that you can share? I found one on gunbroker for 9mm but it was $70! Do they have after market pre-ban mags for the Sigma? Thanks.

You sure you guys want to stock up on $70 Sigma mags when you can just wait a few more months and get proper $30 Steyr LE mags?

Unfortunately, I need the high cap mags now for practical pistol shoots. But at $70, I might just need to get more practice on mag reloading until September and hope for the best. Hopefully CDNN will still have the LEO mags for cheap then.

You mean there really is a sporting purpose to these assault pistols?

There is no such thing as an "assault pistol" or an "assault weapon" anything can be used to assault someone. For some reason I never hear term "assault knife", or "assault basball bat" or "assault car". When I hear term "assault rifle" or pistol, it always makes me laugh. On the other hand, I can't see how 4 more rounds are more dangerous than 11 that are already in my Steyr? Someone please explain. :)
