What is the metric catridge name for the .45 GAP?
E.g.:
.380 Auto = 9x17mm
If the maximum overall length is about the same as for the 9x19mm, then since a 230 grain RN ball bullet is longer than anything loaded in a 9x19mm the GAP case must be less than 19mm long, right?

The 45 GAP is 11.5 X 19 .
45GAP is 45GAP!!! IT was NOT developed in Europe, it is an good old American developement. Such as the 40S&W, 357SIG and 454 Casull. Europe might want to "metricnize" it, but I dought the "metric" designation will become popular.

Hmmmm... Last I checked, Glock HQ was still in Austria, and Austria was still in Europe. ;)
The .45 GAP was made in partnership with Speer. Basically, GLOCK told Speer what they needed and Speer designed much of the specs then produced the ammo for GLOCK. The target was for the US market. So, if you go on percentage work conceived and created you could say far more work was done in the US for the .45 GAP than in Europe.

How about .45 Kurz?

"Kurtz" has developed the reputation of being "less powerful" than the real McCoy. This is by no means the case with the .45 G.A.P. Thus, not fitting for the next generation .45......the GAP.;)

I never heard of that reputation, and "kurz" is the proper designation for a short version of a caliber in German, which is the oficial Glock language. So it may not catch on, but it is correct, the 45 GAP is a .45 short, or "kurz".
Ahhh, my fault on the spelling. I was taking the example of the 9mm kurz and the 9mm Luger which there is a power factor. You can also look at the 8mm Mauser and the 7.92 kurz(7.92x33mm) as another example.;e

Ah, in that case, it would be the 11.25mm Norwegian Kurz? ;)
Actually, a .451" bullet comes out to 11.4554mm or 11.5mm rounded, although .45" is just 11.43mm or 11.4mm rounded.

Yeah, but the .45 ACP has been and is called the 11.25mm Norwegian... so adding Kurz would make sense if ya were looking for a metric designation to use w the .45 G.A.P. ;)
I would be willing to bet $$$$ that Mr. Gaston Glock would argue that designation with you!;)

Several cartridges are known by several names... 9x19, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, .380 ACP, 9x18, 9mm Kurz, etc...
We _can_ give the .45 G.A.P. a few more if we want too!
How about .45 Corvair? Safer in a Glock at any speed... so far anyway. ;)
