Anyone have the pistol stock for the Steyr M-series pistols? Is it the same as the Glock Tactical Stock? I can find those available for sale on the 'net, but have not found one advertised as being for the Steyr. I've heard the manufacturer of the stocks is the same man (Wilhelm) who designed the Steyr pistol while working for Glock -- and then took the design to Steyr after Glock expressed no interest.

I'd like to get the stock for my M-357 and M-40, register the combo with ATF, and have it available for use.

I don't own a Glock, so I can't compare the plug hole at the bottom of the grip or the dimensions between the base of the grip where the stock mounts and the base of the slide where the upper part of the stock rests.

Here's a picture of the stock that I'm looking for mounted on the Steyr...

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Would be cool, however I don't think it would be worth the $200 to the BATFE. (stupid NFA :( )

Wonder if we could get someone to make 16" barrels for our Steyrs.

They aren't banned, just controlled under the NFA. Which means that you have to register and pay the $200 transfer tax to the ATF.

Here's a quote from the www.atf.gov website FAQ section:

(M25) If a person has a pistol and an attachable shoulder stock, does this constitute possession of an NFA firearm?

Yes, unless the barrel of the pistol is at least 16 inches in length (and the overall length of the firearm with stock attached is at least 26 inches). However, certain stocked handguns, such as original semiautomatic Mauser "Broomhandles" and Lugers, have been removed from the purview of the NFA as collectors' items. [27 CFR 179.11]

Here is what you must register and pay a transfer tax on to legally own -- as far as the Feds are concerned (your STATE or LOCALITY may have additional restrictions):

(M1) The types of firearms that must be registered in the National Firearm Registration and Transfer Record are defined in the NFA and in 27 CFR Part 179. What are some examples?

Some examples of the types of firearms that must be registered are:
Machineguns;
The frames or receivers of machineguns;
Any combination of parts designed and intended for use in converting weapons into machineguns;
Any part designed and intended solely and exclusively for converting a weapon into a machinegun;
Any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if the parts are in the possession or under the control of a person;
Silencers and any part designed and intended for fabricating a silencer;
Short-barreled rifles;
Short-barreled shotguns;
Destructive devices; and,
"Any other weapons."

A few examples of destructive devices are:
Molotov cocktails;
Anti-tank guns (over caliber .50);
Bazookas; and,
Mortars.

A few examples of "any other weapon" are:
H& R Handyguns;
Ithaca Auto-Burglar guns;
Cane guns; and,
Gadget-type firearms and "pen" guns which fire fixed ammunition.

Too bad someone wont make a slide/barrel assembly like for the glock and 1911 rifles, that would be nice.

Since you brought up plugs, does anyone make grip plugs for the Steyr?

Anybody tried the Glock plugs to see if they fit the Steyr?
