I can mess with this tomorrow at work ... I just realised I don't have Adobe InDesign on my machine here at home. (actually this is what I do for a living;) )


EDIT
I downloaded steyr2.zip and it doesn't contain a Page 29

What I should do is get a copy of InDesign installed on my home machine ... then take your scans and run them through an OCR program ... then rescan all the photos at 300dpi and de-screen them a bit, then build the whole thing in InDesign.

Then I'd be able to rip out PDF files that are both smaller and will print better.

After I posted that, I went and looked at my manual and page 29 is blank ... not even a page number.


I'll take a look at your PDF and see if there's anything I can do to it to make it smaller.

Really, OCRing all the copy and making it actual text would probably cut that down to less then a meg.



What did you use to make the PDF?


If it wasn't for Adobe products I'd be dumping windows for Linux (well, actually if it wasn't for the fact they are so damn expensive and I'm broke, I'd be dumping Windows for a nice G5 running Panther :cool: )

Okay, using your scans I was able to put together a PDF manual that's only 6.5M ... if I was to take the time to OCR all the copy and build it all properly I could probably get it down to where it would fit on a floppy (and print better then this 6.5M one will) ... however that would be about 8-10 hours of work.


At any rate, I just realised that since I'm at work I don't have any web space I can upload it and I think its too big to attach here so I'll try emailing it to you mrapathy.
