View Full Version : Aimpoint on an AK?
Are the weaver siderails offered for AKs tuff enough to keep an Aimpoint-type red dot scope centered? I'm shopping for my first assault rifle and want to get an Aimpoint CompM2 for it. Is this possible with an AK frame or will I need to use one of those picky ARs?

The sad thing is that I bought an UltiMAK, then put a red dot on it that cost 1/3 as much
I'd love an AimPoint, but I just cant see spending that much money on a red dot, yet.

I figure I might as well get decent optics. I need NV compatibility and I can always put a better weapon underneath it. :)

You can do it via AKSMS mount by ACE, Ltd.
Thanks! Where'd you get the stock?

The thumbhole on my AK came with the rifle: Bulgarian-imported by Arsenal, Inc. in Vegas model SLR-95MB.
Edit: Do you know if this furniture is available elsehwere, for example if I got a SA-M7? It looks like a nice stock.

I don't know who sells the Bulgarian thumbhole stock. It's not too bad for a thumbhole stock, but if I have my druthers, I'll take the regular pistol grip and stock.

Save your pennies til September and your wishes may come true. =)
Edit: If you get new furniture when the CGB pops, PM me. I'll takethe Bulgarian off your hands, as I'll have, well, "at least one" AK to fit out. =)
[edit: stupid post. Went to the ultimak site and saw they sell VEPR mounting kits]
One of my Polytechs has an Ultimak mount on it-

-it has a Meprolight 21 sight on it but an Aimpoint would work nicely.

All right!!! Another Meprolight M21 owner!!!
It don't need no steenkin' sun shade in order to work in the sunlight unlike the tacticalized, US Special Forces-adopted Trijicon Reflex II.
I got mine by accident, fnfalman.:)
I thought I had ordered a Trijicon Reflex and then it showed up and I had this Trijicon on steroids looking thing.
Then I started comparing the two and quickly decided that that was the happiest accident that had befallen me in awhile.;f
