Will there be conversion barrels to switch to .45 GAP?
I'm guessing you will need the whole top slide + barrel if it did work, but I recall a couple other things were different with the .45 GAP reciever. I currently have a Glock 23C in .40, but I like how I can change barrels to .357 Sig, 9mm (with either a aftermarket barrel or 9mm Glock barrel and slide), and .22 LR. Just wondering if I can go to .45 GAP one day as well. I like the compact size of my G23 and have also considered adding a sub-compact little brother Glock as well.

If my above idea doesn't work, and I bought a full size G37, would I be able to convert it to .40, .357 Sig, 9mm, and .22LR? Thanks!!

I don't think that anyone has made a conversion barrel for the G37 yet.

But if converting a G37 to .40 S&W were as simple as a barrel and mag switch, that could get a lot of current .40 shooters to try the .45 GAP.

Hmmm... Can a G21 be converted to 10mm with just a barrel and mag swap? If not, I doubt that a G37 to .40 conversion would work either.

It'd be pretty simple to build a .45GAP conversion barrel for the Glock .45ACP's, but I don't know why anybody'd be motivated to use one.

Walter,

This forum is for owners and shooters INTERESTED in any model .45GAP, not for those DISINTERESTED. Helpful, constructive advice is welcome, but the soap boxing must cease.

No one has made a conversion yet. I'd wait for one before you try to do a homemade conversion so you at least know what is needed.;)

Danny, I've admittedly made lots of silly posts about the G37, none meant to be mean-spirited; however, I really don't see why anybody'd be motivated to shoot .45GAP through a Glock that's already chambered for .45ACP.(I don't think it'd be commercially desirable to invest in such a conversion) I do see how it'd be nice to convert some other caliber to .45GAP, but I don't see how that's likely, considering the barrel diameter requirements.

Any real aversion I have to the .45GAP would have to do with the similarity in size between .45GAP brass and .45ACP brass...just another headache for me, when picking up brass at the range.:)

No need to fear getting them mixed up in reloading. The GAP uses a small pistol primer, not a large one like on the .45acp.:)

Watch to see if Caspian Arms will make a 45GAP slide. It may take a while as the current slides are for the 9 & 40's. They will have to change to make a whole new slide mold and tooling for the dimensional differences.

I wouldnt mind haveing a conversion to concert it to .45ACP just for the hell of it. I just sold my only .45ACP to get this G37.

The conversion is one way only, from the longer cartridge ACP to the shorter cartridge GAP.

Some folks have shot the GAP out of ACP barrels. Anyone have any long term experience with this?

I know you can shoot .40 all day long out of 10mm barrels.

I agree that there would be little use for an ACP to GAP conversion barrel, except for ammo management reasons. If you owned pistols in both, but got conversion barrels for the ACP's, you could standardize on GAP ammo.

Not a good idea to shoot 45GAP out a 45ACP barrel or 40 in a 10mm. The cartridge is meant to head space off the case mouth, by firing the shorter cartridge in the longer chamber is asking the extractor to hold the round in place against the breach face. But the real problem you are asking for is erosion of the chamber from the hot burning gasses, and damage to the throat of the chamber in addition to carbon build up. Unlike a revolver like the 38/357 and 44spl/44mag their is no forcing cone to guide the bullet gently and squarely into the rifling.
If you are looking for light loads in your 10mm I sugest you load up some mild reloads as opposed to firing 40S&W from it.

Blah blah blah. You've obviously not done it. Friend of mine put at least 10K of them down range like this. Mostly long loaded. Others here on GT have done similarly.

To each their own, but I use the proper ammo in the proper gun/barrel.

Yep, but its kinda hard to check the primer size until AFTER you've picked the bugger up, unless you press your cheek really close to the ground! :)

the best conversion for the 45 gap would be to convert $600 into a new G37. ;)

I have been a fan of caspian slides, but I HATE :( :( TO PAY RETAIL. Anyone know a good cheap place to buy Caspian Glock Slides.
