Hi all -

have almost 1000 rounds through my M-40 (all WWB). Couple of items I was wondering what others thought of:

1) Brass shavings - damn those cases look beat up. I thought this would reduce as the firearm broke in. No such luck. Anyone else experiencing this?

2) Noticed with a full clip (10) of Winchester Hollow Points, clip is noticably more difficult to lock in and the slide will sometimes jam when racking the first round. Seems to be better with 8 or less. This would be a full cycle load. When I insert the clip with slide open and hit the slide release, I do not have this issue. Any thoughts?

Thanks all!

No problems with my M357 or M40. Sometimes people tend to allow their hand to maintain contact with the slide when racking the first round in. This actually hinders the racking force, rather than helping it. I simply pull the slide back and let it fly into battery (just like it does when using the slide release).

Check out the way your cycling the slide and see if it makes any difference. If it'll strip a round and go into battery from the slide locked back position, it should do it when cycling the slide manually.
